About Me

To be grateful for what one has. To be respectful of others and learn how to enjoy life and grow in compassion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has changed the way I see the world. I have enjoyed hosting people from all over the world, have learnt a lot from them and have made a lot of great friends. I have also been fortunate enough to be hosted by some extraordinary people in different parts of the world.

I've hosted close to 700 people from many different countries. It's always exciting to show them the best that my city has to offer and hearing the stories of the places they have visited.

Check out a video I did several years ago of one of my Couchsurfing trips across North America with my friend Josch:

People, travel, languages, other cultures, music, movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love German and French movies. My favorites are "Das Leben der Anderen" (The Lives of Others), "Amelie" and "Good bye, Lenin". "Les Intouchables", "Dead Poets Society" and "Big Fish" were awesome too! I love reading, anything from light books like "Me talk pretty one day" by David Sedaris, to historical fiction like "The Dante Club" by Matthew Pearl. I enjoy reading about music and linguistics too, but have a particular fondness for books about history.

My favorite quotes:
* "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." (Augustine)
* "Everything will be all right in the end; if it's not alright then it's not the end." (F. Sabino)
* "A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step."(Lao Tzu)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hm... which one to choose? Filming a spy movie in 24 different countries around the world, getting lost in a cave in the Yunan province in China, filming a rap video in a 3000 year old site in Croatia, looking for the Doenertier in the German Black Forest, hm... Of course, being a Couchsurfer itself is the best experience. I've met some of the most fascinating people through this site and have hosted people with every type of journey in life you can imagine including Tibetan monks, soldiers, scientists, people in spiritual journeys, dancers, politicians, models, actors, journalists, writers, musicians, superheros, a "vampire", mermaids and mermen, intergalactic explorers, a couple of European royals, and the most amazing and adventurous world travelers ever. [Yes, there are many stories behind each of those crazy labels] :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to share my experience with people, whether it is with regards to travel, work, engineering, music, languages, or anything else I can help with.
