to get more dirt on my backpack and more pictures in my camera
I crave adventure in distant lands! I'm not afraid to travel on my own, but it's so much more fun with other people. Fave spots so far include Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Cologne, Glacier National Park (and the Flathead Valley) MT. I love: art, the outdoors, and theatre. When it comes to the outdoors, hiking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, and camping are my favorite time-sucking activities.
Bring everything you need, nothing you don't, delight in the unexpected, and you're going to have a good time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can show ya around town, take you to the mountains, and generally make your stay pleasant. I've got a car, and I will take you where you need to go. I'm outdoorsy and love to hike and rock climb. Any and all CS folks who are so inclined, by all means, drop a line.
I'm located on the LA area, now, and I'm eager to climb some decent-sized mountains in the Sierras, and do some backpacking along the PCT.
I'm a beginner rock climber. Favorite forms of exercise include rollerblading, running, snowboarding, skiing, walking from the new town to the old town in Edinburgh (I think I lost 10# that week!) and probably trail running, if I can find a partner.
I also like cooking, and I'm fond of recipes that are advanced enough to require some thought, yet don't require purchasing a lot of exotic ingredients that end up going to waste, and are at least sort of healthy. For winter months, beef burgundy stew is incredible.
Music, Movies, and Books
On Fortune's Wheel, by Cynthia Voight, remains a favorite. Now I'm into American History, and Jeff Shaara's books are keeping my busy. _Devil in the White City_ was awesome.
I'm on a U2 throwback kick right now. I also like Dresden Dolls, Arcade Fire, Postal Service, and anything I can put on my Ipod and listen to as I run.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
View from the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park- gorgeous!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm good with Excel, I can also MIG weld, and sort of TIG weld.
I recommend adding craisins, walnuts, pears and blue cheese to salads (in whatever combination strikes your fancy), and I've discovered that Tarragon makes green veggies very yummy.
I'd love to learn more backpacking tips and tricks, and anything to do with auto maintenance. I've got an aging Honda Accord that deserves some TLC.
