ABOUT ME

i run a house with adults with special needs, i am part of a Camphill community, which is an international charity organisation.
Camphill's are communities where we live and work with people with special needs. There are houses and workshops. I use to work in one of the workshops, actually I have worked in quite a few different workshops, but now I run a house. The work in the village ranges from organic farming/gardening, bakery, store, cafe, metal work, joinery, toy making, craft studio and other stuff. The products we make go to help support the community as a whole, which means that everyone (including the adults with special needs) actively contribute to supporting the community. This helps to create a togetherness that often gets split because regulations require it to be a us and them scenario. (nothing wrong with some shameless advertising of Camphill)

because of the nature of my job I cannot accept people to stay at my house, i would need background checks and other nonsense so it isn't really practical.

BUT, i would love to stay at your house, generally when i go home to visit family it would be nice to do something where i get to meet some new people.

I come from a big family that is sort of spread out all over the US, so when i visit the states, i generally have to travel a bit.

I want to have a good time when i travel, but I also don't want to be a burden so if I can help with something when I stay with you, please just ask. I like to be useful.

i like pubs, not clubs, i like poetry slams, museums, hip-hop and folk music, i like camping and basketball and football, as in soccer.

I like political discussions, esp. people with differing views, i like sarcasm and dry humour.

I like random art and random activities and random times.

I like music, i play drums (mostly hand drums, but i use to play drum kits a bit)

I pretty much like to do a bit of this and that so I'm generally easy to please.

I do not like olives, but i love good food otherwise, i'm pretty good as a cook myself.

i ate locusts when i was in Chad, and i slept outside at a nature reserve in Chad, but that was more stupid than amazing, i could hear the panther breathing, but i couldn't see it and there were no fences.

ummm, i climbed up a mountain to watch the sunset and then couldn't find the path back down (our flashlight ran out of batteries) that was an exciting hike, but the sunset was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

social pedagogy, sort of, i mean thats what i studied, and its pretty much what i do on a daily basis as part of my work.

I'm just starting to brew my own beer, two good batches, and one slightly not so good.

I cook everyday and have gotten pretty good, so i might be able to be useful there.
