About Me

I am retirement age but don't want to stop working. I have been consulting in Accounting Software (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) as an independent contractor for 20 years and have recently taken a full-time job working for a company which uses this software.

I am a gadget geek working on home automation and any other electronic gadget that peaks my interest.

I am very outgoing and love to meet new people.

I have four adult children and seven grandchildren ranging in age from 9 to 19 and enjoy teaching them about life, riding roller coasters, going to museums, going to Maker Faires and Game development conventions and just about anywhere where both the kids and I can learn new things.

I go on vacation to experience things as opposed to my wife who likes to go on vacation to "relax."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have recently started using AirBNB, VRBO and Turo for renting places to stay and cars when I travel but was told about this website by my brother who tried to use it once but his wife and friends refused out of fear of the unknown.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical Music is my favorite genre of music but I enjoy almost every type of music at least in small amounts.

I enjoy action movies but not necessarily comic movies as I was not a comic reader when I was young.

I listen to books, mostly non-fiction constantly as I drive or walk my dogs. I am a reviewer for christianaudio.com and read a lot of christian books.

I am very fascinated by the human body and how it works, especially the human brain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My wife and I visited our daughter in Hawaii three times over the last three years, took the seven day cruise and have explored the main islands briefly.

Teach, Learn, Share

I read constantly, try new things, buy gadgets and always want to learn from others experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe that I get the most out of meeting people when I can learn new things and can share some of my knowledge and experiences with them. I do this routinely in lines at the theme parks, at McDonald's, or pretty much anywhere when I come in contact with someone even for a short time. I like to joke in a friendly manner with those in the checkout line, etc. where it adds a little sunshine to those that may be impatient or hurting.

I once went to the Urologist's office to have a catheter removed. When the female Physician Assistant pulled back the draping, there attached to my leg, was a skirt gun. I told her if she hurt me, she would get blasted. After an initial shock, she burst out laughing and the entire office had a slice of joy added to their day.
