Explore the world in search of moments of splendour and life. Both in social world and in the natural one.
I'm a pretty easy going guy, with a love for the outdoors. I've spent my last four years roaming the wild places of Canada, and will be spending the next three years in Alaska. I've filled my quota on black fly bites, and soaking wet sleeping bags, so I'm going to Europe to "get away from it all". :) I have a light-hearted sense of humour, and I enjoy meeting new people. My favorite way to travel is to immerse myself in a culture's customs and ways. Even if their ways sometimes seem a little strange. But who am I to say anything, I drink maple syrup right out of the can...:)
I believe that we have a fundamental responsibility to take care of our planet, and preserve its biodiversity. We have a moral obligation to strike balance between our own societies development and to take care of the natural world of which we are a part of. I think that this form of altruism is not far from the sense of community created here on this site.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm just starting out in the couch surfing realm, and I'll be travelling for a year. So I guess the plan is to surf first, host later.
I've stayed with with a couple friendly surfers up in Norway, and WWOOFed with a wonderful family in Rhone-Alps of France.
Like I said I enjoy the outdoors, and the various things that go with it: Hockey, cycling, hiking, fishing, baseball, camping, barbecues, making things out of other things and then fixing the stuff I made, cold beers on a warm day. You get the idea. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Three years ago I was at sea when suddenly we became surrounded by over 50 humpback whales that were feeding on zooplankton and fish! Amazing!!

10,000 years ago there was a dwarf elephant species living on the Channel Islands of the coast of California that was less than 0.8m tall as an adult!!
