About Me

My name is Kyle. I was raised in a small rural town in northern Minnesota, where my family raised sheep and cattle. In high school I was involved in many different activities including sports, music, volunteer associations, etc. I went to college at Bethel University, in the Twin Cities where I studied Elementary Education and Spanish. I also played on the men's club volleyball team for three years during my time at Bethel. I am currently traveling through Mexico and Central America. I want to improve my Spanish language skills, experience different cultures than my own, and meet new friends. When I return to USA I want to teach in a Spanish immersion school or another program involving the Spanish language.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe this is a great opportunity to meet local people who have great knowledge of the areas I want to visit. These relationships can quickly become new and lasting friendships. I also want to be able to host people in my own home so that I can give back to the community that serves me so generously while I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love bluegrass music. Other types of music I listen to are rock, blues, jazz. I love everything on public radio.

I don't watch many movies. I prefer to spend my time conversing with friends and reading.

My favorite books are Farenhiet 451 and Catch 22. I just finished reading The Diary of Anne Frank and was very impressed by her writing skills and mature view of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the beginning of last summer I hiked and camped inside the Grand Canyon! It was amazing!!

Teach, Learn, Share

Reading is the gateway to knowledge.

There are no stupid questions.

Travel opens the mind in ways one can never imagine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my knowledge of the English language. I'm very open to helping others learn.

I am also a hard worker and always looking for ways to help others, whether that be cleaning, yard work, cooking, etc. I am very willing to learn new skills and teach others skills I have learned.
