Make new friends
I graduated a year ago from college, did some traveling in Brazil, and then worked at a ski resort for the winter. Then I did some more traveling through Europe. Now I'm living in Austin and have started a new job. I loved being able to couchsurf in Europe, and now I hope to meet some new friends in the States.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I've only surfed and met a few locals while traveling. Coming from rural Vermont, I don't get a lot of surfing requests. I hope to be able to do some hosting now that I'm moving to a bigger city.
I've met some wonderful hosts and friends couchsurfing. It was a wonderful way to get to see cities in a different way, and to meet people with which you never would never cross paths otherwise.
I really enjoy the idiosyncratic ways that people talk. Everyone, or ever place, has words or inflections that are unique, and I love that. I like to read without much discrimination; I like all sorts of books. I also really like large boats.
I like to talk around cities and see all the different neighborhoods. I'm lazy about getting started but I also really like hiking.
Music, Movies, and Books
Judge me if you will, I love top 40s and country, but I'm usually down for a little bit of everything excluding death metal and gregorian chants.
I love crime and mobster movies.
I like biographies, Jamaica Kincaid, and the Hunger Games series
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once walked a ridiculously number of steps to the top of a mountain in southern Thailand. The view was amazing, but also the sense of accomplishment. I'm in all honestly not the most physically inept person (see Personal Description), so the feeling of getting myself up there with just my body and friends' encouragement was very satisfying.
On the street in Salvador I once saw a man playing like ten instruments all attached to his body in some way. The music was not as impressive as his sheer ability to make so many sounds at once. He was surrounded by about ten children, too. He was a real life Music Man. That was pretty amazing. I walked the same street for seven weeks and I never saw him again.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to get some sight seeing advice from anyone who lives in the places I'll visit. I live in a small town in Vermont. There are a lot of beautiful views and places around, but they're hard to find, so I would be happy to show any of my visitors the hidden gems, so to say.
