About Me

To see many places I haven't been, and to meet people from other places in the world. When I was younger, this was not as easy as it is now - the Internet, jet travel and the fall of the Iron Curtain have changed our mobility.

I have studied music and performed in Europe, and enjoy traveling there whenever I can. It has been my good fortune to have had taught some wonderful students in my career, and to have worked with some incredible musicians. I enjoy friends and pen pals who are any age from 20's to 80's, and from anywhere in the world. I am keen to know more about other people, their religions and their cultures.

I have always been a person who detests prejudice of any kind - racial, ethnic, religious, lifestyles. I feel that one should try to broaden one's horizons throughout their time on this earth, and to do what they can to make life brighter for others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have hosted visitors from the U.S., Germany, Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Israel, Italy, France, Belgium, Brazil, Norway, Canada, New Zealand, Bosnia, the Netherlands,Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Russia, the Ukraine and Iceland at different times, and recently had the good fortune to visit two sets of them in their own towns, and then dine with another in his country. I also met some delightful people in France, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and Romania through my membership in this club and the Hospitality Club, and I number those meetings among my finest travel experiences.

My interests include: travel, art, architecture, music, cinema, fine dining, gaming, good conversation, human rights, diversity.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was part of a choir of 750 who came from all over to sing in the Royal Albert Hall, London, in the presence of Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip. In 2005 I gave an organ recital in Romania to benefit the restoration of the instrument- this was arranged through internet friendships such as are developed on Couchsurfing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Before my retirement I taught courses in Music Theory, the History of Music {Classical} and the History of American Jazz & Blues. I would be happy to discuss any of these topics. I also am a performing musician {classical organist} and enjoy giving concerts in other countries. I have donated any offerings or collections from such recitals to local charities.
