Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To rule the world with sheer charm and charisma....or just see it, you know, whichever is easier =)
ABOUT ME
I'm Laurie!
I'm friendly, outgoing, energetic and a bit of a spaz. But once you get past all that, I'm very interested in other people's stories and enjoy conversing with fellow travelers.
PHILOSOPHY
In a choice between easy and meaningful, I'll always pick the latter...even if that path is laden with mistakes. Mistakes give you color and character, or at least a good story at the end of the day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I will be hosting full time this year, hopefully. And I hope to also do a few meet ups in Seattle!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a member of Warmshowers.org (which is like CS but for cyclists) and stayed with two hosts off of that site. I've also been graciously hosted by 11 CS hosts so far =)
Learned about the site from two well traveled friends and decided it was time to make an account when I toured Canada with two cyclists and fellow surfers in 2012!
Interests
Discovering swing and blues dancing opened up a whole new world for me and currently has me enthralled. I also want to tackle balboa, salsa, and tango.
But when I'm not dancing, I'm reading/writing/singing/redditing/chatting up random strangers for funsies. And occasionally, I knit.
Though I study Organizational Communications and Sociology, I'm incredibly interested in linguistics and how people use language to communicate. Not quite a polyglot yet, but on my list of languages to tackle are: Spanish, French, Italian (yes, I know: romance languages...) and Japanese!

State and Revolution, All About Love, Octavia's Brood, Parable of the Sower, Fight Club, Almost Famous, High Fidelity, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Letters to a Young Feminist, The Importance of Being Earnest, Lady Windemere's Fan (Yes, I know a lot of Oscar Wilde...I'm a little in love with him), Invisible Monsters, Choke, Snuff, Lullaby, The Graduate... and soo much more
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camping and hiking my way through Canada was great. Working on a campaign to win a 15 living wage for SeaTac workers and Seattle workers was a great achievement too.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people how to knit, play some piano and very minimal guitar. I'd love to learn different languages, or bike and car maintenance. My cooking has yet to kill anyone and is on the tasty side, so if I have access to a kitchen or you have access to mine, there will be plenty food to share =)
