I am a Romanian woman in her early twenties studying anthropology and education in upstate NY. I enjoy reading, traveling, writing and learning about people's lives. I am a feminist, a Marxist activist and a vegetarian. I am interested in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I have recently become interested in activist art, movie-making and street photography. I want to become a journalist to tell the stories that are often overlooked.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I surfed with people in Egypt, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, England, Peru, Finland, Estonia, Kazahstan, Kyrgyzstan, NYC, Turkey, Mexico and the Czech Republic.
I am on Couchsurfing because I like to learn about locals' lives while I travel. Hanging out with Couchsurfers has often been one of the most valuable aspect of traveling.
I also believe in Couchsurfing as an anti-capitalist tool that allows people to reject consumerism and help each other.
Post-colonial literature and theory
Activism (feminist, anti-racist, pro-LGBTQ fights)
- avant-garde art
- classical music
Music, Movies, and Books
Books - Sarah Schulmann, Toni Morisson; I have recently started reading mostly works by women, women of color, works from outside of the Western world etc. so I am still discovering my favorites.
Movies - A clockwork orange, Harold and Maude, Woodie Allen's movies
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I haven't done anything truly amazing. I have done some adventurous things: hitchhiking from California to Costa Rica, moving to Mexico after going there on a 10-day vacation, spent a month in Egypt all by myself.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about language-learning (I have studied many languages, and taught a couple) and psychotherapy. I am willing to learn about anything.
