About Me

I am on a mission to see and feel, learn and live, grow and then help others to do the same. How? By putting myself in situations where I will be challenged and be able to give of myself.

I am a South African abroad and love to share my culture with interested persons. I am an open and honest individual with a great respect for cultures from abroad. I will try everything once and believe the best way to learn about a country is to eat what the locals do. I love learning new languages and don't mind sounding silly as I attempt to pronounce newly learned words. I have many friends from all over the world having travelled in UK, Italy, Netherlands and Spain. I hope to meet many more people and aim to learn at least one thing from each of them that will allow me to be a better version of myself.

Calmly I enter into my personal unknown, to grow, to build character, to learn so that I can teach! (I made that up, lol I don't know any quotes about travel).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am what you might call an extrovert or at least that's what everyone who knows me says. Meeting new people and befriending absolute strangers is what I do best. I am also always up for a party and enjoy dancing. I especially love the Savillanas (similar to Flamenco) that my friends have taught me. On the other hand I also enjoy a quiet conversation with fun and laughter in abundance. All in all, I am present and always willing to participate.

I am new to couch surfing, having never done this before. I hope to do so soon so that I can say I too have "couch-surfed". I have heard many inspiring stories from others and hopefully I too will have a great story to share which will inspire others like me to join.

I enjoy football(soccer) and cricket, science and engineering, architecture, art and history. I love languages and am fluent in English and Afrikaans. I am learning Spanish and Italian (they are similar) and can have a basic conversation. My favorite interest of all is of course adventure and travel and that is why I have joined this site.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Buddha of Brewer Street, Trunk Music, David Balldacci

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen a match at the San Siro with AC Milan versus Verona. I have walked atop the Duomo of Milan. I have partied on the top floor of the Heineken Building in Amsterdam and seen the Van Gogh Museum. I have bathed in the Sun on the beaches of Valencia and stayed up all night partying in the Barrios. I have been to York Minster, Westminster Abbey and London Eye. I have been on the top of Table Mountain and surfed while a shark was in the water lol (super scary). Now I want to see more of the world and share my experiences with others.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I know quite a bit about mining and the processes behind it having worked in the industry. I also know quite a bit about medical prosthetic's and tissue engineering since these are my majors in University.

Learn: I want to learn about architecture and art and how people come up with particular trends such as inspired the creation of the Duomo in Milano. Teach me please lol.

Share: I would like to share my language and experiences with anyone who would listen. I enjoy spreading the news that Africa is not a bad place to visit and that majestic beauty is everywhere, not just on top of Mnt. Everest.
