About Me

I'm a writer/photographer currently living in Humboldt County in Northern California.

I began my career as a gardener in Southern California, designing and planting flower beds. That parlayed into producing, writing, and hosting a gardening television show in Southern California. That turned into me producing and writing for others, eventually landing in Humboldt County, writing for dailies, now internationally for magazines.

I write a series for Dope Magazine out of Seattle titled, "Road Trip: In Search of Good Medicine," covering four states, California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado.

My cup is half full, and I'm always looking for more good stuff to put in it.

I believe in giving, in being gracious, polite, respectful, and kind.

I believe in Karma. I believe if you give away your last pair of shoes to someone who needs them more than you, good things will come your way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am not currently hosting, but traveling.

My work has taken me to four states and many guest rooms and couches. I am a good guest, very tidy, and clean-up after myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most wonderful adventure I've had in my travels is going to Sweden and staying in the countryside in hostels. I love waking up in the morning, making my way down to the communal dining room and hearing where everyone is from.

My mom was equally curious, traveling to California along Route 66 in 1952 with my Father. The first thing she used to ask anyone was, "Where are you from originally?" I find myself saying that all the time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love telling stories, hearing them, and I believe everyone has one.
