My mission is to see as much of the world as possible and to meet new people along the way. There is not a place I wouldn't like to visit or a person who doesn't have something interesting and new to teach me.
I am insatiably curious, outgoing, low maintenance, easily accommodated, and never bored. I like to laugh, to take walks. I enjoy traveling but I am terrible at remembering to take pictures - I have been working on this. I love to try new things and to meet new people. My favorite way to travel is through the people that live in a certain area, I feel it is the best introduction to actual life in a new place, for this reason I have been staying with families around France the last few months. As for flaws, I am a terrible procrastinator, but I promise to respond to all couchsurfing-related emails!
My personal passions include food, not just cooking in its own right but food culture, the histories of cuisines and how they have united and defined cultural groups. I studied journalism and hope to write about food and travel professionally but for now I am just collecting as many new experiences as I can. I enjoy reading philosophy and books about books. Some of my favorite authors for this purpose are Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Paulin, Georges Bataille, Maurice Blanchot, Roland Barthes, Simone Weil, and older writers such as St. Augustine. For other reading, I enjoy Don Delitto, Proust, the short stories of Hemingway and Flannery O'Connor. Outside of reading and cooking I like refurbishing old furniture and sifting through markets. I also enjoy sailing and canoeing. As for movies, I enjoy films with some action. I like Snatch and Guy Ritchie films generally as well as In Bruges, Pan's Labyrinth, The Lives of Others, J. Edgar, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and of course the occasional romantic comedy for rainy days. Though I am not in Nashville or New Orleans at the moment, I look forward the hosting future travelers in the U.S. after participating in couchsurfing while abroad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Yesterday the family I am staying with in Brittany took me for a walk along the rocky hillsides by the ocean to watch the sunset. I have never seen light like this. It was the first time I thought that I might be in the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Otherwise, I would say two of my most memorable moments were bungee jumping in Whistler, Canada and fishing in Belize. I jumped off a bridge over a gorge, there was a roaring river below and a gentle, steady snowfall. As for fishing, we were on Ranguana and the only other two people on the island were a mother and her son who tended the two cabins for rent in the off season. The son speared a fish and taught me and my cousin to clean and gut it, I was a young child and had never touched something like that, something that was swimming a few minutes before (from this you can probably tell I'm not a vegetarian, but am certainly willing to surf with one).
