ABOUT ME

I make friends with strangers. So do my kids.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to explore everything that catches my eye, and drag my rugrats along with me. My 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son are the two least shy kids you'll ever meet, and love trying all sorts of new things. When asked whether she wanted to go to San Francisco or China this summer, she said "China! Because we've never been there and I want to try something new!" So help me, my kids will be able to independently navigate a foreign public transportation system by the time they're 16.

Interests

I love just wandering the streets of a new city. I love reading a good book in the shade of a tree on a hot, sunny day. I love splashing with my kids at a water park. I love eating a delicious dinner with my husband and friends. I LOVE sleeping! (I didn't love sleeping nearly so much before I had kids...) I love my job passionately (teaching science and health to 12- and 13-year-olds). I love listening to my daughter sing the random songs she makes up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Racing the rising fog up the mountain to Erice, Sicily, knowing I'd have zero visibility if it caught up with me, and would have a hell of a time finding my hotel.

Holding my daughter in my arms for the first time. Then, three years later, seeing her holding her new brother - my son.
