About Me

as cliche as it is, be happy. live in the present.

I suppose they might say I love to be active, live in new places, travel, speak Spanish... I'm a very loyal friend and a good listener. I try to be as nonjudgmental as possible and not take sides. I'm always challenging myself, even when I say I won't. I can be annoyingly cheap. I'm modest. I say "sorry" too much.

trying to live each moment one moment at a time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

host when i can, travel when i can

if i lived alone or with other CSers, i'd always have people.

i love not having plans. you never know where you'll end up.

reading, psychology, travel, running, triathlons and marathons, snowboarding, meeting new people, meditation, water polo, swimming, live music, food, good beer, attempting to learn tango and the guitar

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: God of Small Things, Don Quixote, Harry Potter, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, anything by Palahniuk or Vonnegut. Can I admit I'm a miserable dork and own probably 50 Star Wars books?

Movies: Star Wars (Episode 4 to be exact - no my favorite is not Empire Strikes Back, contrary to every other "real" Star Wars fan), Memento, Fight Club, Snatch, Trainspotting, Donnie Darko

Music: i love live music and almost all types. i don't know if i can do this... but right now I'm feeling (or am always feeling): The Beatles, Jose Gonzalez, Justice, Daft Punk, Zero 7, Ojos de Brujo, Bajo Fondo, Tom Petty, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Gotan Project, Simian Mobile Disco, Chico Trujillo, Kaskivano, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chambao, Caliajah, Muse, Damian Marley, Green Day, Sublime, Dispatch, Ratatat, Manu Chao... and I admit every road trip must be begun with Neil Young

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Getting the courage to start over completely with Spanish while in college. My Spanish still isn't great but I'm still grateful for the decision.
-Getting myself to Puertecillo, Chile on time after waking up in Valpo accidentally at the time I should have been in Santiago taking a bus to Litueche. Begging in English isn't my forte; imagine it in Spanish.

Teach, Learn, Share

i can teach you how to swim. that hasn't come up as a useful thing to share so far.
