Ongoing development of my global life!
I have always managed "a life writ large", living several lives simultaneously, or so it would seem -- with great energy and enthusiasm.
I'm from New York (Manhattan), and have lived in Korea (Seoul, 2005~2009; Jeju Island, 2010-present), as well as Hong Kong (2009~2010), with extended stays in Spain (2007) and England (2014). Beginning September 2015, I will divide my time between Hong Kong and Geneva. The study of cultures holds particular fascination for me.
Whilst I've a keen appreciation for intellectual and artistic pursuit, I am also deeply devoted to nature. I prefer meaningful experience over material objects. And I am passionate about my profession in the healing arts, including clinical, research, writing, and social welfare initiatives.
Phoenix. Dragon. Shaman.
Soak up life through my pores--living deeply, remaining open to all experience and continually learning. Make genuine connections with people along the way. Practice servant leadership. Do my part to help improve this complex world in which we live. Strive always for peace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been both guest (in 15 countries) and host (of nearly 50 guests, from 18 countries). I also served as the first City Ambassador for Seoul and first Country Ambassador for South Korea, and was a member of the Hong Kong CS group. In addition, I've twice served on the New Member Welcome team. While I cannot actively host at this time, I continue to meet CSers whenever possible.
On a 5-month journey in 2006-2007, I met and was hosted by a number of CSers in a dozen countries, and attended meet-ups in Madrid and Mumbai. I surfed again in 2008-2009 in seven countries, as well as several more recently. In addition to surfing, it is my frequent traveling pleasure to meet with other CSers for conversation--over coffee, a drink, or a meal.
Global peace and social activism, especially gender equality. Travel for the purpose of cultural exchange. Writing, literature, visual art, classical music, performing arts. The study of culture, womens' issues, consciousness, indigenous health practices, mind-body connection, shamanic traditions. Intellectual as well as sensate experience, scintillating conversation, world politics, philosophy. Nature. People. Ideas. Life.
I'm also a member of Business & Professional Women, Mensa, and PEN. And, I'm a government-appointed Honorary Ambassador for Jeju Island (Korea).

Music, Movies, and Books
Am possessed eternally by Bach and Casals, and have studied classical voice and piano. I've little interest in "movies" but appreciate "film"... and have never owned a television. As for books: I'm an avid reader and appreciate anything that's especially well written. The classics -- of any culture -- are my preference.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One?? --I lived within sight of North Korea during a 'nuclear crisis'; explored the rainforests of Costa Rica and Puerto Rico; met with traditional healers and spiritual leaders in Iceland; witnessed numerous shamanic ceremonies in Korea, Siberia and Mongolia; trekked the (rockface) seashore of Jeju Island during a typhoon; encountered a very large python on one of Hong Kong's outlying islands; and, grew up in New York. Among other things.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach/share: What I know of Korea and its culture (having lived in / actively researched same for 9 years); Ditto for Hong Kong and Chinese culture (lived in HK for one year; studied Chinese culture, traditional medicine, and philosophy for 20+ years)--and, Japan (visited 5 times; studied traditional medicine), as well as extensive world travel; English language: speaking, writing, editing, proofreading; psychology and holistic health / wellness practices; cooking, interior design, gardening. Knowledge. Experiences. Art.
Learn/share: absolutely anything and everything; I love learning--and sharing--on principle.
