About Me

To seek the truth in a world full of western propaganda and lies

We are two people, Dave and Anya.
(My profile was set up before we got married and so its mainly about me, but you will find we travel together and we come as a package!)
We recently left our perfectly good lives in London to start a new life in New Zealand, currently residing in the beautiful city of Auckland.
I'm addicted to travel - i can honestly say that when im sitting on a bus/train/plane heading somewhere new that thats the only time i feel real happy, really feel like im living the life i was born to live.Being in the office in the week is just a means to an end - living for the weekend and for trips away is what my life is about. I work to live, not live to work.
I do not live a materialistic life taken in by a world of commercialism and mass consumption.
I dont watch TV as I believe it to be full of Western media controlled propaganda.
Give me a train ticket, a place to visit, a couch to kip on and some great company, i will be content for days.
Some people inject for it, some smoke for it, i just travel to get that kick in life..
Kids are on the horizon so things will change.

I often stare at a map of the world for hours on end thinking of all of the possible routes, places to go, imagining what places would be like when i finally arrive - its just a dream but slowly each dream is coming true.
Thats what i do, dream of something - it goes on my 'list' and one way or another, i make sure it comes true.
I'm not one to say that i'd love to do something and then not do it. I dont understand that. If somethings needs doing, then do

I travel to see the world for myself and not through progaganda driven western tv. It's actually q fascinating place and a wonderful to seek the truth to what's out there.

My heroes are people like Jullian Assange, Edward Snowden and reporters like John Pilger.

So, here's a bit more about me...

I generally try to get along with anyone and just enjoy meeting new people, especially people from different walks of life to my own.

I love sport - mainly football and generally keeping fit.

I like outdoor activities.

I love music - pretty much anything.

I also love food - i love experimenting with recipes.

I also like a drink, whether it be wine or beer or rum.

I like photography

I never read fiction books, only 'real' stuff.

In the UK I used to own a motorbike - my beloved VFR800. In NZ I'm on the lookout for a bike.

I have a Russian wife who is my best friend, who has similar tastes and we lovely travelling together

Being a big traveller, I'm interested on culture and more recently politics. I seek out alternative media sources as I believe western media is full of propaganda in support of America's world domination. And disregards real people in real countries and hides the truth of what's evil in our world.

We recently (2014) gave up our perfectly good lives and good jobs in London to emigrate to New Zealand and start a new life. We travelled for 4 months across Asia while our stuff was being shipped, which was an epic trip.
We are now based in Auckland.

Life's too short so just get on with it and enjoy the ride

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For 18 months I organised a weekly meeting in North London, coupled with weekend nights out and trips out of London.
Link to group here:

I've surfed many times and hosted several imes.
I also like to attend CS meetings - a great way to meet people in random places.

Surfed many times around the world!
Have hosted several times too and this was a great experience as we could actually see how it feels to host.
Am particularly interested in meetings.
I dont like to surf unless i can commit time with my host but if im visiting somewhere where i cannot give my host time, then i look out for meetings as its a good way to meet locals.
I was a big part of the Wood Green London group and struck up a good friendship between a handful of CSer's and it just shows what can be achieved through this website.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock, Dance, Chill - any kinda music really
I enjoy going to gigs and music festivals. Currently loving The Twang.
What I love about music is that you can hear a particular song and you can be taken back to a moment in time where you can visualise an exact moment of feeling, you can almost close your eyes and be there again!
Books - anything to do with travel - have started reading a lot of history books lately - catching up on stuff i missed at school. The older i get the more i'm to find out who we are and where we come from.
Films - Hardly anything out of Hollywood impresses me, same crap, awful storylines, commercial yawn. Give me a foreign (non English) film any day - about real life. Some god foreign films i've watched recently include Frozen Land, Iraq in Fragments, Tomorrow, All About my mother, Breathe, Orwell's 1984, The Stoning of Soraya, Only the dead, The Fool, The Divide, Sunduk Predkov, This way of life, Winter on Fire, The Cave of the Yellow Dog, Utopia, The Trube, The war you don't see, The Danish Girl, Gandhi, The killings of Tony Blair, Tell Spring not to come this year, Making a murderer, Game of Drones, Unlawful Killing (Diana), Anatomy of a great deception, Once were warriors, The Sixth State, Citizen Four, My country my country, Cowspiracy, Year Zero, Manufacturing Consent, Stealing a Nation, Who killed the electric car, Requiem for the American Dream, Dirty Wars,

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn from others - about their culture, country - whatever they can teach me.
I hope others can learn something from me.
Im constantly doing random recreational courses at colleges.
For our 2014 travels, I kept a travel blog and am updating it for previous trips and on-going trips. Here's the link:
