To see the world and meet fantastic people!
I'm the kind of person who would rather go out for a cup of coffee than to a party. I'm laid back with a sarcastic sense of humor. I am a very calm and mellow person that will occasionally surprise you and do something crazy. Like buzz off all their hair. Or bellydance in the middle of the desert because she felt like it. I'm not the first to start with small-talk, but I'll be the first one to try out sandboarding or put a rap into her graduation speech. Yeah, it can take me longer to warm up to people, but when on the road I tend to feel more adventurous.
I'm too young to have a "philosophy", because it would probably change every week.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to couchsurfing, and to be honest, traveling in general- I took my first trip abroad this year. I am now location verified.
None yet, but can't wait to get started!
Like most people, I am interested in seemingly random things. I like a good challenge- have run in a few short obstacle-course races that were a blast (see picture of me at the finish covered in mud!) and I also do strength training and Krav Maga martial arts classes at my local gym. I like trying new physical activities from horse riding to paintballing and lasertag. I love anything to do with Eastern cultures, especially the middle east or northern Africa. Love doing henna body art for fun, occasionaly wear headscarves and turbans around the house, and I think harem pants are awesome! I am currently (attempting) to learn Arabic- Modern Standard and eventually Moroccan Colloquial Darija- for when I go back to Morocco at some point. Also working on my French (took it in HS)which I realized is pretty terrible at this point...
I lovvve learning to cook ethnic food, although I don't do it as often as I'd like. I tend to try anything once! And sampling coffees from different countries is fun, too. Turkish and Vietnamese coffee... mmmmm... I have made Turkish baklava, Moroccan tagine, Vietnamese pho', and more and always get excited at different recipes to try.
This is altogether too much rambling so here are some more interests: animals, photography, reading fiction, psychology, writing, films (Lord of the Rings anyone?), languages, sleeping in.
- body art
- martial arts
Music, Movies, and Books
So many to choose from! I'm a total geek so I have to include some sc-fi's... movies-
Lord of the Rings trilogy, Galaxy Quest, Star Wars, Princess Bride, Bourne Identity, Pretty much all Jackie Chan films :), The Blind Side, Star Trek, The Lion King (best movie ever!), while I'm at it all classic Disney films...
books- Poison Study, Harry Potter series, The Hobbit, Desert Flower, Artemis Fowl, Terry Pratchett's novels the Discworld series. And I absolutely refuse to read or watch Twilight!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the true night sky in the Sahara desert was without a doubt a life changing event.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really want to learn Arabic, Darija, and improve on my dismal French from high school days. Of course I really like learning phrases in any language! And learning to cook food from around the world.
What could I teach? Hmmm. English, if you already know some. And I could give tips on henna tattoos... or how to draw blood from a cat :P
