About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much as possible about the world I inhabit. To pursue fluency in Russian, Persian, and (Levantine) Arabic.

ABOUT ME

I'm American, 20, a student, and completely in love with this world and the people in it. Heading to Russia for 7 months in 2015 (May-December).

I love music, good food, horses, people, and learning as much as I can. It would be my life dream to speak every language in the world. Sadly that will never happen, though I'd love it if you'd teach me things in your language(s) and help me try. Theology and psycholinguistics are fascinating to me. I enjoy hearing about people's spiritual journeys. I love tattoos and the stories they tell. I'm slightly obsessed with Russia. I wait about 10 minutes to eat cereal after pouring milk into it because I only like it when it's soggy. I dislike cigarettes. I'm the kind of girl that loves a good debate or deep discussion just as much as I love to go out and party.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and surfed and love meeting up with people to chat or show them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some of the most amazing and interesting people I know through this program. I've also learned something from everyone I've met here and hopefully taught them something in return. I'm always looking to have my horizons expanded, and doing so through other people's knowledge always leads to some interesting experiences.

Interests

Reading, independent films, long conversations, being outdoors, studying languages, political debates, hiking, generally exploring anything life has to offer. I also have a newfound interest in computer programming, though I'm not very good at it.

Music, Movies & Books

Music: Radiohead, The Kooks, Mumford and Sons, Citizen Cope, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, The Killers, OneRepublic, Beirut, The xx, Ben Howard, etc. I also love dubstep, trap music, house, and Latino music. I like lots of stuff and I love learning about new music.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Spending a day with a Masaii tribe in Tanzania; the graciousness of the people there was unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach me about:
- Local forms of religion in your country and how they affect the culture of the region
- Slang and expressions in your language
- Your most profound life experiences
