About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take the time to stop and smell the flowers.

ABOUT ME

We have been friends for our whole lives, and have always wanted to visit Central and South America!
Since we have both been in education for so long we haven't been able to travel for long periods of time so the journeys we have done have been a maximum of 6 weeks at a time.
We have both reached a stage in our lives where we now have the opportunity to fulfill the dream we have always talked about.
THE TIME HAS COME!
Here are a few of our simple life pleasures: a good strong coffee, when something is so funny that you can't even breathe, partying, candles, a man and a harmonica, lazing in the sun with a beer and a book, adventure in whatever shape or form, cooking scrummy food, fairy lights, red wine, and OF COURSE meeting new and wonderful people: it is the people that you meet along the way that make the journey!

PHILOSOPHY

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

(Max Ehrmann, Desiderata)

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

(Mahatma Gandhi)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Due to the fact that we are new to couch surfing we have never used it for any of our previous travels however, we are really keen to contribute to this inspiring community. As soon as we came across couch surfing we knew it would be something that we would love to get involved with. It was described to us as 'the true way to travel' and we would love the chance to get to know the people we stay with, what they do and the communities they live in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None to date... but hopefully many to come.

Interests

Art in all forms; sculpture, painting, drawing and the way a space can evoke an emotion.
Music; it is something that every living person has in common.
Literature; books make sense of life.
People; it is the people in your life that make you who you are.
TRAVEL; experiencing different cultures and meeting new people will not only educate you as a person but enhance your love for life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Because we are two different people our music taste goes from one end of the scale to the other. From Folk to House, Reggae to Dub step and Acoustic to Trance, these are to name a few!

Books: Eight Steps to Happiness, The Island, Wuthering Heights, The Alchemist... the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lottie: I went to Ghana which was one of the most amazing things I have done. I got involved with the community by teaching english and building schools which was really great because I got to see the school from start to finish and how pleased the children were when they saw it. It was so nice being welcomed into such a friendly community and the experience will stay with me forever. I also saw an elephant in the wild which I have always wanted to do!

Eleni: I have a genuine passion for architecture and its ability to bring people together. This passion has pushed me to travel to some amazing places and again meet new and interesting people. Last year I went to the Austrian mountains to a run down monastery where we worked with the community to transform it back to it's former glory. The village had become run down and because of this people had moved away leaving it feeling like some sort of ghost town that had lost its soul. Because of the work we did there we have heard that in the past 6 months there has been a positive sign in the redevelopment of the community.

Teach, Learn, Share

Skills we have to share:
Piano playing, guitar playing and not to be a bore but we are very passionate about what we do so if anyone would like to learn about architecture or journalism we would love to tell you all about it!
