ABOUT ME
Aaaah personal descriptions... let's see. I have a bold, fun, and gregarious personality. I am kind, compassionate, joyful, and I enjoy discovering new cultures and perspectives. I strive to continuously broaden my perspective by hearing other people's subjective life experiences. I see people as mirrors and windows to parts of myself - the good, the bad, the ugly.... and the beautiful! My friends say that I am uplifting, warm hearted and helpful. I would say that if it weren't for my friends holding space for my struggles and for their support, I couldn't be the giving person that I am. I am a helper and a healer, which means I must always start with taking care of myself. I do this primarily through a regular spirit-embodying yoga practice. I try to take care of my environment inside and out.
I am a yoga teacher and a counselor. I am in my last year of grad school. I align well with Buddhist and Taoist philosophy and I will probably always be a student, above all else. I think this makes me the best mother I can be.
PHILOSOPHY
I am currently reading a little Nietzsche ..

Yoga, live music, good friends, good conversation, photography, surfing in tropical waters, psychology, and belly laughs are a few things that I love. I spend most of my time studying or pretending to do homework! lol I spend a lot of time hanging with my 13 year old boy. And when I can, I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies? uuuhhhhh... the last movie I saw was part of Harry Potter movie on TV. 127 hours was amazingly moving. I am kind of a sci-fi nerd sometimes. I love stories of exploration, growth, perseverance and relationships.
World music, the sounds of nature, classic rock, metal, spanish guitar, folk, almost anything live, and Tool is my favorite band. I make playlists weekly for my yoga classes and it takes me back to the days of mixed cassette tapes!
Haven't read any fiction in a while... I've been reading a lot about neuroscience, mindfulness and healing trauma lately. Oh and a little existential philosophy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am from california which is enriching in its diversity, however, it is moments that I have spent in other states or countries that have left me feeling more connected than any other. The first memory that comes to mind is when I went to Hawaii for the first time and total strangers would wave, nod, smile or say, "Aloha" to each other. I had a similar experience in Costa Rica. I realized that whole groups of people live with the spirit of aloha or pura vida and that was refreshing!
I'd say that a favorite moment of mine was watching my son as we watched sea turtles laying eggs and babies hatching on the beach in Costa Rica. The look of awe on his face left me awestruck!
