ABOUT ME

Lou
I grew up in Rothbury, Northumberland in England very near to the Scottish border. I later went to Newcastle University to study Folk and Traditional Music for 4 years. This is where I met Ryan. Since then we have travelled around a bit working in New Zealand and Australia but we are now returning to the UK where I hope to begin studying as a Music Therapist.

Ryan
I grew up in the south of England in a small village called Chalton in Bedfordshire. I first met Lou in 2001 when we were at university together in Newcastle. I was studying geography at the time and all this music stuff seemed all very foreign and intresting. In 2006 we set off on a round the world trip with a one way ticket to New Zealand. We stopped via Los Angeles, the Cook Islands and Fiji. We then fell in love with New Zealand and ended up staying in Auckland for 2 years. We later moved to Australia with our jobs for 6 months where we explored the East coast and some of the central parts. In September 2008 we resumed our travels starting from Singapore and making our way through SE Asia, China, Mongolia and Russia with a hop over to Northern India and Nepal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We were first told about couch surfers in New Zealand at a campsite in Gisborne. We currently have no where to live so cannot offer a couch but we love to meet people (this is one reason why we travel). We hope that we will bring good experiences and laughs to the CS2 project. Is this too serious??? Who knows, but if we dont say then you dont know our intentions!!

Ryan only reads non-fiction and is currently learning abour Fidel Castro. Lou just likes reading but is taking on Fidel Castro next.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ryan - successfully negotiating the chaotic roads of Nepal, leaving your life in the hands of the bus drivers.

Lou - Riding a moto for the first time, giving me a taste for the open road.

Try to avoid using wooden stirrers in coffee shops as they are not environmentally sustainable, use a metal spoon instead.
