'The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.' said Thoreau - Try not to be one of them...
Grew up in China. Came to UBC in Vancouver, Beautiful British Columbia and in deep love with this place because NATURE is my religion. Very independent and love the freedom as an individual. Mixed personality. Easy-going, laid-back, emotional and caring. Very open-minded to various interests. Can probably have an opinion on whatever topics you name. I'm a perfectionist, an idealist, a dreamer, puer aeternus; spontaneous, sometimes idiosyncratic. I'm very easily satisfied by whatever nature and life offers.
"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation."
"How do youths better learn to live than by at once trying the experiment of living?!" -- Walden, Henry D. Thoreau
That's also the reason I love travelling: I won't believe (or at least not completely believe) what others say without seeing or experiencing by myself. The goal of life is to LIVE.
"I think careers are a 20th century invention and I don't want one." -- Christopher McCandless
"It's unfortunate that we live in a society that takes tragedy to bring us together."
"When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy.' They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life."
"I don't necessarily fear being afraid." - Andrew McAuley
Yeah, I like quotations... :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Use it for help when I'm travelling. Help others when they are travelling. Promote this amazing community. Meet people who want to travel together or share memorable experience.
Started by attending Vancouver CouchSurfers' get-together. Showed someone around UBC campus - one of the most beautiful spots in Vancouver. Then had a blast on my first CS experience in Hawaii. Hosted in Xi'an, China. The amazing people I met in Europe was the most recent experience. Simply phrase it: this is an amazing family with incredible people where I feel belong to!
SPORTS - I'm addicted and love the passion, competition and inspiration from sport.
OUTDOORS - I enjoy drinks at a bar or chilling on a couch. But it's always better on the trail, in the forest, in the ocean, or on a summit; you know, that off-road, backpacker's spirit.
TRAVEL - I feel my heart belongs to the road. I appreciate landscape and natural beauty. Take a lot of photos without me in any of them. ;) I like the feeling of hiking for miles just for a WOW of the gorgeous view, or lying on the beach, watching the sunset, listening to the waves while staring at the stars in a velvet sky. I also appreciate the opportunities of different things big cities offer. OH, did I forget about the PEOPLE?!
Whatever else... I am so easily interested in new things, probably because I want to know everything but never understand that's impossible.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: A little bit of everything. Whichever fits my mood at particular moment. Those that lift my spirit, sing my heart.
Movies: LOTR, , Donnie Darko, Shawshank Redemption, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Into The Wild, Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, Rachel Getting Married, Red Gold, Documentaries, etc. of those which made me think and laugh...
Books: I wish I could read. But worship the philosophy in Henry D. Thoreau's Walden, love the suspension in The Da Vinci Code. Also:
Three Cups of Tea
Into The Wild
Into Thin Air
Where The Mountain Casts Its Shadow
In The Realm of Hungry Ghost
The Longest Day
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I owned the Golden Ears summit for an entire night all by myself, watched the sun rising behind the mountains, talking and singing with the wild. I felt I was part of the nature, the mountains, it was ultimate freedom -- it was AMAZING!
Others like: camping on the beach in Ucluelet with the Mid-Autumn full moon set. Swimming into the dark caves in Maui. Standing right beneath a 100-metre waterfall for the best back massage ever.
The list goes on and on... =)
