About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get some life experience outside of Australia and to see what the world has to offer!

ABOUT ME

I'm a country kid at heart but have lived in Melbourne for the past 4 years studying at University. I'm desperate to get out of the study/work cycle that I'm stuck in. 45hr working weeks and studying in my spare time = no fun for Lou! I want to get some life experience outside of Australia, see what the world has to offer and have a lot of fun doing so. I can't wait to meet new people and make friends all over the world!

PHILOSOPHY

At the moment I've been living to work. I no longer want to do that. I want to work to live! I'm 25 years old and have never been out of Australia. My inner wanderer is stirring and I need to get out!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At this stage I live in a rental property in Melbourne with 4 other people, so I don't have the capacity to offer a couch, but will try to do so in the future if my living situation changes! As a potential couch-surfer, I am reliable, honest, friendly and will be willing to contribute to the households I stay in. I have lived in share-housing situations for the past 8 years, so have plenty of experience in being a considerate housemate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, yet.

Interests

Reading; I spend way too much time curled up on the couch reading novels, when I should be reading my text books!
Music; big fan of the great live music scene.
Politics; don't even get me started on the whimsical nature of Australian politics!
Blogging; I have a lot of opinions, I like to share them.
History and culture; I want to immerse myself in places overseas that are thousands of years older and richer in culture than my young Australia.
Partying; who doesn't love a good beer and a boogie!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: alternative, indie-rock, folksy
Movies: Meh, I can take them or leave them. I'm more a fan of clever TV-series.
Books: anything I can get my hands on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Australia is a fairly amazing place to live.
Melbourne is hip, artsy, full of culture and has an amazing live music scene.
Queensland is cruisy, sandy and nice for a relaxing holiday. (But sometimes way too touristy!)
Cairns is hot, and sticky! Beware the jellyfish! But beautiful and exotic.
Sydney is pretty pretentious, but they've got good beaches.
The country can be boring, but when you grow up there, it will always be home. The country can be fun when you've got the right person to show you around!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to teach people that Australians really are the laid-back, happy and friendly people we're known to be. But also, not all of us are the bogan, drunk and ignorant people that we've unfortunately become known to be too.
