I am a peaceful, open minded person, curious to learn and willing to help, to share knowledge, opinions and experiences with everybody who’s interested.

Beside family and friends my greatest influences in life were (are) participation in a self-organized youth center in my hometown and my time as a scout, which taught me responsibility, the art of improvising situations and a romantic vision of everybody living together in solidarity, respect and acceptance. And of cause the wish to travel the world...

Currently I spend my time in Nicosia, on the beautiful island of Cyprus, where chance took me for an almost-a-year volunteer service.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually created this account years ago, but never made the step to complete my data and use it.

Since my flat mate uses to host travelers from all around the world in our living room, I experience the advantages of this network and get to know wonderful people.
I guess it’s the people we meet, the relations and emotions, that make travels special and that we keep in mind. It’s one thing to go somewhere as a tourist, stay in a hostel and visit the places that are recommended in a tour guide. It’s another thing to get in touch with locals, get to feel culture and be led by personal opinions and advices. I prefer the second one ;)

Interests

I enjoy doing a lot of things. I relax by doing sports, play the guitar or express myself with arts and doing handycrafts out of whatever ends up in my hands, I love to learn about culture and history, to play foolball and hang out with friends. My latest discovery is juggling :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to world music; indie, ska, raggea, folk etc. - I wouldnt name a favourite band, but my song of the week is definitly " on my way" by the cat empire.

I don't read very constantly, but mostly what people recommend me :) The last book that made me stay awake for night is "the name of the wind" by Patrick Rothfuss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a scout I traveled to different countries all over Europe since I am ten. It's the way of traveling that makes these experiences unique. It's about replacing a cooker by an open fire and electronic devices by candellight, about sharing in a group, moving by walking with your own feet and feeling free!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn from other people, doesnt matter if its about history, philosophical matters, personal stories and opinions or a new dish.
And I will try to help where I can if you want me to. I can show you basics on the guitar, how to juggle with poys or help with translations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

...the experiences I gained during my young life :) I am an easy going and helpful person. I like to share my time with new people, get to know their opinions and stories and share mine.
My cooking skills are constantly develloping, and although I havent been dependent on cooking on my own for a long period yet, my pizzas are pretty good
