About Me

Find the answer to life the universe and everything else (actually this is a quotation, but I think it fits my objective as well)

I don't like to describe myself. I always think I could be a better and more interesting person and so my words on myself would not probably sound exciting. The only thing I am sure of is that I am a gentle person. I hope to be helpful to friends if they allow and wish me to be of help. I love to partecipate to conversations with my friends about whatever ... and if some of them want me to know a little secret of theirs, that would make me really proud of myself just as if I was granted the honor to hold a jewel on their behalf.
I am surely a little bit shy. I don't feel confortable to be under the spotlight. I do prefer a small group rather than a big crowd. I love quiet places more than noisy ones. But I also like life and all its colors.

I just want to live my life. Share it with all the people I will be able to meet and that will like to be part of me in that particular moment hoping that I will also be part of them. I hope to be of any help to someone (if not now, I hope I will be able to feel that way one day or another) and make some others really be proud of me.
A song by an Irish folkband called "the waterboys" puts in verse the sense of search for a meaning of life that I feel applies to me. The songs recites:
"Where will I wander and wonder?
Nobody knows
but wherever I`m going I`ll go
in search of a Rose
Whatever the will of the weather
and whether it shines or snows
wherever I`m going I`ll go
in search of a Rose
I don`t know where it`s found
but I don`t mind
as long as the world spins around
I`ll take my time
I`ll savour the softness of Summer
I`ll wrap up when Winter blows
and wherever I`m going I`ll go
in search of a rose"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I need some more time to understand better what this is all about. Probably meeting other CSs will allow me to better understand a way in which I could be of help.

I am an absolute beginner as for CS or similar experiences.

I love photography. I am not a photographer (I wish I was, ... I nevertheless know that I have no talent at all to aspire to become one, but actually I don't really mind). Photography lets me join different aspects of life that I like: going to interesting places, walking around without a goal and looking carefully to colors, patterns, of course also monuments, art shows and city/landscape views ... I don't like portraits ... because people tend not to be that patient with me !!!!
When I take a picture, the result is not only what is depicted on the screen or paper ... but also my thoughts get frozen there as well ... and I can recall them even after many many years ... I think that's a kind of magic ...
I also love going to movies .. (probably related to photography) ... listening to music, reading books ... and dreaming useless dreams.
I also love cooking ... though I am terribly slow !!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Actually this paragraph is too short to hold all the movies I have seen (and love to see again and again and again), all the music I listen to and all the books I read ...

For the Movies: consider that I regularly watch movies at theatres (I love big screens) as much as I can afford and consider also that I am subscribed to a Cineclub that is worldwide famous ( check out ... they are really amazing and do amazing restoration to old film movies.
For the Music: let me say that I am a collector ... I bought a lot of vinyl records in the past and now I continue buying a lot of CDs .... (genres that I like: 70s rock, 80-90s pop, classical).
For Books: I read whenever I am relaxed enough to start a new book. Reading deserves time. Some of my favourite authors are modern Italian writers (Baricco, Calvino), some are modern USA writers (Cormac McCarthy, Raymond Carver, Palahniuk) and some are European XIXth century classics that I consider a must to read: Tolstoj, Dostoevskij, Dickens, Hugo. I also like English Romantic poetry like Byron, Coleridge, Blake among others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am a quiet person. Don't expect me to describe an adventurous life.

Teach, Learn, Share

It is difficult to say what I can teach about. My job is in Information Technology ... I can be considered quite expert in the field ... I also have my interests and hobbies, but I don't think I could ever expect myself to teach anything in these fields ... probably it is better to say that I can share my experiences with others that have my same interests so that to learn from each other faults.
