To take some time for myself actually. To travel the world and see what I want to do with the rest of my life. I can't help anyone else until I know what I want for myself.
I think that they would say that I'm kind of shy around new people at first. But it doesn't take me long to warm up to people. I'm super extroverted, but I just need a little bit of time to warm up to new people. I think they would also say that I'm a pretty open minded person, both about people and about new experiences. Getting out of my comfort zone is something that I've come to terms with. They would also call me very organized, I'm pretty clean cut and I like things a certain way. At the same time my friends would also say that I'm willing to accommodate myself for different situations. Adaptability is key!
I believe that there is just a standard that everyone should be treated in life. It shouldn't matter who you are or where you come from, you should still get treated nicely and politely. If someone is nice to me, I will be just as nice to them back. It should literally be as simple as that in my eyes.
I think right now I'm still kind of in a preparatory phase in my life. I know what I like and have a general idea of the direction I want to go later on. Now it's just a matter of narrowing things down and finding something I'm passionate about and that I find fulfilling that I could consider doing for the rest of my life.
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ralph Waldo Emerson
I love reading, usually when I get some free time I always have a book in my hand. I like to write a lot too, I've been journaling for the past year or so. It kind of helps me to keep my life sorted and have some time to reflect on everything that's been happening! I'm also a huge movie buff but for the time being I've stopped adding to my collection (it's not the cheapest hobby in the world). I guess most of all I love people, I'm studying Communication as well as German at university and I love it! I really enjoy connecting with people and having good conversations (aka real talk).
Music, Movies, and Books
Huge movie fan! I love dramas and action movies, especially ones with huge twists at the end. Movies that make you think. The Prestige, Shutter Island, Fight Club, Inception, those types of movies. I also have a special spot in my heart for the Shrek series!
I love reading, I've got a kindle that I'm absolutely addicted to. I like reading books about dystopias, I just think they're super interesting, A Brave New World is probably my favorite. I've also been trying to work my way through some of the classics too. Currently I'm wrapping up the Game of Thrones series, which I am hopelessly addicted to!
Lately I've been getting into Indie music a little bit more. I'm a fan of James Morrison, Newton Faulkner, Coldplay especially. I like the temporary adult genre a lot too, mostly bands like The Goo Goo Dolls. At the same time I'm a hopeless country fan. I'm a small town country kid at heart and I love that kind of music too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well I guess my first moment is the duration of a whole summer! During the summer of 2011 I worked at a summer camp for kids. It was by far the best summer I've ever had in my life! Not only was working with kids all the time great, but the people that I worked with were wonderful. It was basically a group of 20 or so young people all living and working together. We would bust our butts during the day, but at night when we got off it was great! Somebody would always bring a musical instrument or something to the common room every night and we would just have a ball! Sometimes young people get a bad rap for being rowdy or just wanting to party all the time, but that summer totally disproved that image to me. We all worked so well together and were such a tight knit group, I felt like we could have done anything!
The second "awestruck moment" for me would have to be one night when I was sitting with my dad. We were getting into some really deep conversation and all of a sudden he breaks out this box of pictures and newspaper clipping and whatnot. Turns out it was a bunch of stuff that was from his childhood and old life. My dad was born in Germany and moved to America when he was 21. Because of this I've never really known much about his side of the family. Then all of a sudden I am learning so many things about people that I'd only met once or twice in my life. I learned a lot about the town that my dad came from and what it was like back then too. It was just really cool to go back and see where my family came from. Most people take knowing where they came from for granted, I'm kind of glad that I don't though.
