Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I've been into blue-eyed soul music recently--Kat Wright in particular, a local Vermont artist. Other than that, I listen to a wide range of artists from Leon Bridges, to Zach Deputy, to Lake Street Dive, to Bahamas.

Movies: Grand Budapest Hotel, anything Quentin Taratino, and on the other side of the spectrum, anything Disney--gotta love the childhood classics

Books: Goat Song, Wild, The Dirty Life

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While in the Virgin Islands, I had the opportunity to go snorkeling for the first time. It seems like a cliche-- girl goes to a tropical paradise and does all of these "fun in the sun" activities--but it was so much more than that for me. I'll admit, I am slightly terrified of the open ocean, despite living down the street from the ocean for the first 18 years of my life. The thought of floating atop the ocean's surface, so vulnerable to the creatures and secrets that the ocean holds, makes my heart race. But now that I've done it, that feeling was totally worth it. Submerging my face below the surface revealed a whole new world of color and harmony. My anxiety slipped away and was replaced with a wave of tranquility as my eyes drifted across each surface of the underwater utopia; I saw fish of all shapes, sizes, and colors, countless sea turtles gliding along with the current, and an octopus (!!) before it snuck into a crevice in the rocks. 100% would recommend an experience like this.

Teach, Learn, Share

" When we retire from the conventions of society and draw close to nature, we involuntarily become as children: each attribute acquired by experience falls away from the soul, which becomes anew such as it was once and will surely be again." -Mikhail Lermontov
