About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn to move my white hips like a South American! And cuddle a sloth.

ABOUT ME

Hola todos!

I'm from Sydney, Australia. I am in my final year of a science and arts degree at Sydney University, so I know a little bit about a lot of different things which makes for a good conversation but unfortunately not a job.

I am travelling in South America for a year, and studying in Bogota from July-December.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep an open mind to trying new things and having new experiences; treat everyone with respect; always be able to have a laugh at yourself and remember undies before pants.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to see as many sloths, practice as much salsa, eat as much weird foods and make as many amigos as I can!

I'd like to get to know some locals on my way so I can improve my Spanish and learn more about different places and people so that I don't just feel like a classic gringo on tour!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed with a Brazilian couple in Manaus. It was during the World Cup so we watched Brazil beat Chile and I danced samba for the first time with a 70 year old lady in the street. Our hosts were amazing, they spent the weekend showing us around, taking us to try Brazilian foods and swim at beaches on the amazon river.
It was an amazing experience and so different to staying at hostels!

Interests

I love to learn about different cultures and ways of life, try new foods, go out to dance.
The outdoors is pretty great; I play a lot of sport including soccer (or I should say football while I'm in anywhere other than Australia), and also snowboard and ride horses.
I love music - I play piano and a bit of guitar so seeing live music is definitely a big part of my travels!

Volunteering is also important to me - I have volunteered with disabled children and refugee children in Australia, and would like to dedicate some time in my travels to volunteering by either teaching English or working in a hospital.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different music but I listen to folk and electronic music the most; Bon Iver, Radiohead, The XX, Beirut, Alt J, Fourtet are a few of my favourite bands. A bit of 80s classics goes down pretty well too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learnt how to be a 'Jillaroo' which is like an Australian Cowgirl. I travelled in Europe for 2 months and snowboarded in the French Alps, and volunteered with refugee children in Australia.
