About Me

I was born in England, later moved to Australia whilst in my teenage years. Finished high school, took an inordinate length of time to finish uni. Looking to extract as much juice from life as I can before time dries up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not? I'm going to be travelling with my partner Alicia (who has her own separate profile on here) around the great state of California and we both think we'd get a much clearer picture of what it is actually like if we were able to stay with some actual Californians (native or adopted, we're not bothered).

Interests

I believe the following section will more fully illustrate my interests.

However I will say this: I'm a beer-lover. Though there is no word equivalent to gastronome or oenophile for a beer-lover, make no mistake - that is what I am.

Atop that, I like good dining and great conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

One day I will be asked to contribute my list to Sound & Sound magazine's decadal Top 10 Best Films List. I already have it prepared - here it is for your enjoyment (in chronological order): Trouble in Paradise, The Rules of The Game, The Red Shoes, The Apartment, The Servant, The Jungle Book, Taxi Driver, Brazil, Fargo, There Will Be Blood.

Music-wise, my favourite band is Scottish indie-darlings Orange Juice, but I'm also fond of The Smiths, David Bowie, The Kinks, and such stuff. Make of that what you will.

At the moment, I err more towards plays in my reading, rather than novels - a couple of favourite writers: Harold Pinter, Tom Stoppard, Noël Coward, Oscar Wilde and, of course, George Bernard Shaw.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have made some short films - seen through from conception, funding, production to completion - which in itself could be considered somewhat amazing, given my usual lethargy. However, I wouldn't call any of the films themselves 'amazing'.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I Can Share with Hosts

My partner Alicia is an amazing chef, and she's offered to cook our host/s an excellent meal - and I'm willing to share that with them as well.
