ABOUT ME

I study Literature in California, but right now I'm an exchange student in Tübingen, Germany til August 2011. I plan to get a PhD in Literature and hope one day to become a university professor; but that's quite a long way off! So now I'm focused on learning German, traveling, and meeting new people during my short stay in Europe!

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm, difficult question... I guess it's a life's project to search for a purpose. Most important for me is to change my philosophy through learning and meaningful experiences.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sadly, I haven't yet surfed or hosted anyone through couchsurfing... I just signed up for the program, but I hope to have some great experiences!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like I said, haven't yet had any experience through couchsurfing... but my roommates and I did host three guys from the UK we randomly met at a soccer match. They stayed with us for a week, and it was great showing them around and getting to know them.

I love reading, discussions about anything with thoughtful people, all forms of art, traveling, tennis, hiking, films, language learning... and plenty of other little things which I can't think of at the moment! I usually don't know until another person asks me...

I enjoy too many films to list... but Wes Anderson is probably my favorite director. I've been getting more into German cinema, since I'm currently living there. Some favorite bands/musicians are: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Radiohead, Bright Eyes, Elliot Smith, Pink Floyd, and many others. I'd love to expand my musical taste, so any suggestions would be great!
I'll read pretty much any genre: Fiction, philosophy, essays, history, but I especially enjoy reading the poetry of different countries (so suggestions here would also be great!)

I really like the sound of this! I'd be interested in learning practically anything from people I meet. Right now tips on traveling, backpacking, and couchsurfing would be great for practical knowledge. But I'm especially interested in getting to know other places and cultures, their history and art. Most valuable though would be getting to know other people!
I'd be willing to discuss any subject, and I might be able to suggest some good writers from around the world. If you're interested in learning or playing tennis I could also help with that!
