ABOUT ME

This duo has a love story for the ages, and the opposites-attract personalities to match. After an awkward first meeting through high school theatre, we became quick friends in our early twenties. While both of us are still young, our lived experiences have people we meet calling us "old souls." Kind, passionate, and creative, we bring a vibrancy and humor to any situation.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is meant to be enjoyed and shared with those who we love. Through travel and learning we hope to gain understanding and compassion. We live to meet new people, experience new things, and enjoy whatever comes our way! We also share a strong conviction that mutual understanding and experience leads to shared interest in working to end all forms of injustice.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We love people. We love stories. We love travel. It's funny we have taken so long to find couch surfing, but after a raving review from a friend, we had to give it a go! We are excited to meet folks during our move through couch surfing, and to start hosting once we are settled in our new digs!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is our first time with couchsurfing.org, but both of us have experience living abroad. While in Germany during high school, Mac (Mackenzie) stayed with a family for two months--she loved getting to know the family and culture first hand. She refers to her hosts as family to this day. Arielle's favorite experience with travel is making friends while staying in hostels, and getting to know them.
We are no strangers to staying with people, we have made friends all over our state, and frequently host folks on our couch or bring ourselves to stay with them.

Interessen

We both love learning. We joke about wanting to go back to school forever. Mackenzie is a Massage Therapist with a penchant for board games, reading, and witty banter. She will devour a book in a single sitting if undisturbed, and is one of the best listeners you've ever met (guaranteed). Arielle has a knack for cooking, writing and general tomfoolery. She is good-humored with a love of making others smile. Together we bring a wisdom and love for life that is contagious. We hope to brighten up your life a bit regardless of how we meet. (Mackenzie would like you to note, she is not nearly as boring as this makes her sound.)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

We don't watch too many movies, but when we do, anything that makes us laugh, moves us or give us catharsis. We share a love of Women's Folk Music (Think: Ani DiFranco, Brandi Carlile, Tracy Chapman). Arielle likes a good dance beat, and Mackenzie likes music to get things done to. We both love Glee... it's okay we won't make you watch it with us. Mackenzie will read absolutely anything, while Arielle has a habit of starting books and never finishing them... We both love libraries and can spend hours scouring the shelves.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Arielle got first place at the science fair in third grade, got kicked out of a math class in high school for writing poetry during a lecture, and once had a magazine article written about her that got distributed to five counties in Northern Minnesota.
Mackenzie is a cat whisperer, owns at beach volley ball, and should probably run for public office someday.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Mackenzie can offer up an array of card games, massage therapy technique (Swedish and/or deep tissue), editing skills... and much, much more!
Arielle loves teaching folks how to knit and/or crochet. She has a slew of recipes to throw your way, as well as love of roller skating/roller derby and public speaking (much more here, too!)...
We would love to learn any new skills! Advanced camping/survival/hiking/backpacking skills, juggling, cooking food unique to you/your family/your culture, gardening/horticulture, home brewing (!!!) or anything else neat. We really, really love to learn--you name it, and we will probably think it's cool.
