ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Madeleine, or Maddie. I'm from London, UK. In the past I have lived in Italy and Canada, and travelled a lot, and now I'm back home. I have studied extensively in theatre and physical performance, I now work as a circus artist and teacher. I love to travel with my work. I specialise in rope and silks, which involves a lot climbing and hanging upside down. It;s fun and hard work. To help my body recover I do a lot of Yoga. And I love to cook weird and wonderful meals and learn new recepies.I have also worked a lot as a language teacher, teaching English through drama techniques ( a lot of songs, games, role play, even puppetry and circus). I am interested in all sorts of performance arts, permaculture, poetry, fitness, good books and I love trees!I am adventurous, friendly, curious, respectful. I appreciate a little bit of privacy and respect that for others too. I love to meet people and exchange cultures, views and ways of life. I hope one day we will be friends too!
PHILOSOPHY
I live with a lot of faith in the unknown - that we cannot decide and plan everything, the world is big and life has a habit of throwing up surprises! But what we really need and want will ultimately come to us if we ask for it.
I believe in treating all humans well, and believing in our good nature.
I think we need to make some serious alternations to ensure a good future for our planet; becuase we as a race are too greedy and frequently put money before people and the environment.
I believe in the power of arts and communication to transform lives for the better.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm quite new to CS and am learning my way around now.I am happy to provide my personal alternative guide to London for anyone who wants to hear it from a North Londoner ;) and to advise on other places I have travelled and loved.I might try to stay with someone through CS on my next travels - I think this would be a really exciting experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am currently reading three books:
1) The Help by Katherine Stockett - an addictive page-turner novel!
2) The woman who gave birth to rabbits, a collection of short stories by Emma Donoghue
3) Affluenza by Oliver Stone, an enquiry into the parelle between wealth and unhappiness across the globe.
I love music from all around the world, 60s soul, folk, bluesy stuff, lots of brass - great for jumping around!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I volunteered on a social circus project in Nepal for three months, working with young people, many of whom are survivors of trafficking. A moving, inspiring and transformative experience!
I just recently saw the murmuration configurations of starlings getting ready to roost in south west england - beautiful!
