I just finished my first year at college at the University of Oregon, originally from Boring Oregon (pretty funny) which is about 40 minutes east of downtown Portland. I love new experiences and getting to meet new people, I would love to meet with a host and just chat--hearing new stories about people is one of my favorite things to do. I love being outside, and dogs. My dog right now is 18 and I've had her since I was 2 so old dogs definitely have a soft spot in my heart. I'm hoping to major in Family and Human Services with a minor in Business Administration from UO, to go into nonprofit management and continuing my work with intellectually disabled adults. I'm an extremely easy to talk to person, and love this community I've heard this site has had!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first year at college has been anything but expected. After going through some pretty heavy personal things throughout most of the year in almost every aspect of life, I've decided to start doing things differently. I want to begin traveling, and I have a lot of dreams and aspirations of places to go to before getting older. The perspective change has really driven me to push my comfort zone and to get that ball rolling, couch surfing seemed like a great place to start. I would love ideas or advice from anyone traveling, it's something I want to learn a lot about how to do affordably!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music! Even though there are genres I don't choose to listen to, I can always appreciate the music for its production as an art. My favorites are rap and indie definitely, but anything with a good beat or instrumental are good to me. I get really into my TV shows too, some of my favorites are Archer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Office, or Parks and Rec. I love comedies that have an off-beat sense of humor because I have a similarly odd sense of humor I think. I love reading books that are based off of real-life events, especially relating to family or health issues. One that I read recently was The Other Wes Moore, which was such a good book about two men named Wes Moore who grew up in the same crime-ridden and poor neighborhood, but one Wes ended up a Rhodes Scholar and author, while the other ended up in a heavy prison sentence. To Kill a Mockingbird will always be one of my favorites though!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is a hard question! I haven't gotten to travel or really have any great life experiences yet in life, but I think the thing I'm happiest about doing was doing this crazy 14 mile hike up Mt. Hood in Oregon close to where I'm from. It's not like a super amazing thing, but the view from the top of the mountain was unlike anything I've ever seen before. It's really a big part of what makes me want to hike and travel more.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think I can teach some really valuable interpersonal skills about communication and listening, but really I just love to learn and listen. I'd love a conversation for sharing and listening any time!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook (pretty competently), and I love cleaning and organizing things. Mostly I'd just share being a friend with a host, and I would bring respect and compassion.
