About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To earn good money taking photos in Asuncion!

ABOUT ME

I'm living my dream right now, and it can be compromised to four pillars in guiding myself to self-realisation;

CouchSurfing
Travelling
Teaching
Photographing

Addicted to change and alienated to daily routines, I moved to Manchester for a year of partying before moving to Thailand for another one of teaching English. After Thailand I travelled Burma, Nepal, India and 21 countries around Europe during 2012. Now I've moved to the capital of Colombia where I'll reside before travelling South, Central and North America during the next three years.

How I Stopped Worrying and Started to Love Life

A dehumanised daydreamer turned decadent darer, an apathetic alien turned affectionate adventurer, a bored bum turned blabbering baboon..

Being brought up in the relatively sheltered environment of a small town in Sweden, I was finding my purpose in life hard to define, not to even mention materialise. Three years were being spent playing the online shooting game Quake III around ten hours per day, following an abrupt farewell to social life during a house party that went out of hand. Short story is that 120 gangster 'friends' stole jewelry, emptied the fridge and 'made love' in my house's beds to name but a few things they were busy with. I was a delicate 15-year-old, so this inevitably sent me onto a path of misanthropy and loneliness.

A loneliness that was dampened by moving away from home at 20, and completely erased at 22 when I realised travelling, having fun and being nice to good people wherever I go is the meaning of my life. I knew that I could truly enjoy life in any state, I wasn't scared of slowly perishing into decay anymore, and I've felt more mature and experienced for every day that has gone by.

I grew up playing a lot of different sports; ice hockey for 11 years, football for two clubs simultaneously for six, 'Bandy' for five and floor ball for one. Now I regret I never learnt any instruments, but there's always time. :)

My initial dream was always to write and direct movies, while my current dream is to become a travelling photo journalist. But to become that without studying further, I need to travel, write and take a lot of pictures, while teaching here and there.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about CouchSurfing from a Welsh girl in northern Thailand, created my account at an airport in Qatar, and CouchSurfed my first place in the outskirts of London, where I enjoyed extreme hospitality and togetherness. Since then, I've hosted people in my flats and houses in Sweden, in Manchester, England, in Bangkok, Thailand, and in Bogota, Colombia. I've surfed countless(I do count :p) of different places with amazing hosts, and I also frequently attend gatherings and engage in forums in every place I travel or live.

I've now hosted people from 47 countries, and surfed in 32 different countries, as you can see below..

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Sorry, but I can't limit myself to one single experience.. :p

Crying from happiness when hungry, thirsty, tired, hungover and in need of a shit and a piss in a bumpy, dirty and extremely hot minibus when experiencing inner piece from watching hilltribe children hunt us around the breath taking landscapes of Phonsavan, Laos.

Hosting 9 surfers the same night in Manchester, England.

Surfing the same couch for 24 nights in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

Partaking in CS Manchester and Istanbul, two of the most active and beautiful CS communities in the world.

Attending a high school beauty pageant and becoming the show's biggest attraction being the only foreigner, having thousands of school girls screaming in excitement in Puerto Princesa, Philippines.

Doing the zip-gliding Gibbon Experience in Bokeo, Laos.

Being Alone in Kyoto, Japan.

Surviving a 75 km/h motorbike crash without a helmet in Pai, Thailand.

Experiencing pure harmony alone with only animals in a desert between Kampot and Kep, Cambodia.

Losing one laptop, four cameras, three phones, two credit cards, one passport, one driver's licence and my pocket money while still surviving three months on the road.

Doing an impulse modeling job on Lamma Island, Hong Kong.

Sleeping a total of around eight hours during one week of constant partying with gays and prostitutes in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Getting spellbound by Ricky Gervais' 'Science' live stand-up, Flight of the Conchords' shenanigans and the Joy Division 30th anniversary concert in Manchester, England.

Becoming a local celebrity after dancing in front of thousands at a Chinese New Year's celebration in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Being assaulted by two ladyboys with umbrellas and knives in Bangkok, Thailand.

Waking up in a bath tub inside a bar/internet cafe seven kilometres away from the hotel without anyone knowing how I got there on Korfu, Greece.

Watching the movie "Chungking Express" in a hotel room with a Chinese Wong Kar-Wai fan in Chungking, Hong Kong.

Fighting with transexual drug dealers in Paris, France.

Auditioning for a commercial of the country's biggest coffee company in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Snorkelling with turtles and sharks around Perhentian Islands, Malaysia.

Staying homeless without money or food on the streets of Osaka, Japan.

Admiring mother earth's miracle in El Nido, Philippines.

Being on the most hallucinogenic, emotional and life-changing trip of my existence with Ukrainian gangsters around the suburbs of Kiev, with me missing my second flight in four days as a result. It was so worth it.

Things I can't go into detail in public profiles, but will be saved for an eventual book on my travelling life. I have stories most of you won't believe or maybe you don't even want to know about, so only way to find out is by hosting or surfing me. :p
