Currently retired, but helping out as "Campground Director" for interns who stay 3-4 months with a Christian Mission agency. Having the 20-somethings around certainly livens up my life and teaches me many new things - esp tech stuff.

I am not a walker/hiker but get around none the less, and am glad to share my resources with others who come through here.

I always had to work for a living. Now I can compost, have a garden, go to bed when I want and have all the fun that is good for me.

The motto for my home, painted on the railing: Rest, Restore, Rejoce. That's what happens here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I plan to see my family in CA in Dec. However, their living situations are in flux and I need a place near them, but not under their feet.

Since I'm retired, keeping to a budget is a huge factor. Motels, Bnbs are too pricey. But I'm willing to treat and cover all my own expenses.

I learned about this just a few months ago from a young woman who had stayed in Kampala with a family for 2 weeks (on their couch) and had a wonderful time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just finished all of Louise Penny's novels, inspector Gamache. Now working my way thru Anne Cleves. I prefer novels set in other countries so I can learn about the places, people and culture there.

While there are movie theatres around, not my favorite outing. Movies on dvd on the computer is more my speed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drove a hearse from Chicago to CA by myself and was sleeping in the back most nights.
