About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet as many new people who also love living in the world.

ABOUT ME

I'm the mother of two college-age children, a super geek who works in the web design/technology consulting field, a hardcore photographer, music lover (went to Barcelona recently to see Springsteen), enjoy the arts, theater, biking, traveling the world.

I've lived in Manila & Johannesburg while working as a journalist for CBS News and have been back in the States since 1998 living very close to D.C. in Maryland.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a guest room on the first floor with a shared bath and a basement apartment with its own bath. I have a cat, Butters, so if you're allergic to cats this isn't the place for you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted one surfer and loved it. I really love meeting and engaging with people from around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I love: Superbad, Anchorman, Michael Clayton, Crash, Ides of March, Moneyball, foreign films.

Music: Bruce Springsteen (since the 70s), Lyle Lovett, garage band rock and roll, Ella Fitzgerald, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, dance music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was working for CBS News in Manila when the Mt. Pinatubo volcano erupted. We were about 6 miles/4 km from the mountain when the whole top blew off. It's one of my favorite stories to tell: The Day Rocks Fell From the Sky.

Got to have dinner with Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (separate occasions), lunch with Imelda Marcos at her house in Hawaii, swum with sea lions in the Galapagos, galloped with wildebeest and kudu in South Africa, and scuba dived the Tubataha reef in the Philippines.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a super geek and have actually trademarked the phrase "geek-to-human translator". I'm happy to help with computer stuff (I'm a Mac person but have worked on PCs), Photoshop, digital photography.
