Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
HUGE fan of George Orwell, especially "The Road to Wigan Pier", "Homage to Catalonia" and his essays.
Lots of Dutch literature, especially Bernlef, W.F. Hermans and F. Bordewijk.
Some Hemingway. "The Power and the Glory" by Graham Greene.

Music:
Mostly classic rock, singer-songwriters, heavy metal and blues. Also country, Stax soul, and occasionally some classical stuff.

Films:
Not really into those. I do have a few favourites though...
- Apocalypse Now
- The Blues Brothers
- Pulp Fiction
- Murderers Among Us

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 14, I went to Canada (southern BC, to be specific) with my mum and stepdad. We saw a lot of incredible landscapes and wildlife: humpback whales, orcas, eagles, and a bear. Combined with the alien geography and culture of this strange, big, empty land, it made quite an impression.

Closer to home, I made a solo cycling trip around the Netherlands in July 2012. It was a journey of 1,200 km and took me 16 days. My next goal is to cycle along the Rhine, from the Dutch North Sea coast into Switzerland!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Netherlands
