Working on a film project here in NYC now, I'm stopping global warming in my spare time
Until my main film starts shooting later if anyone wants to join us on a wknd my friends and I do extra work for movies and TV in NYC (and even in Dubai on Syriana and Mission Impossibe 3), it is good fun. Also interested if anyone is driving to Denver, LA, Vegas or Northern CA. About Dubai: Less than $150. per month!!! for a brand new small studio flat in Sharjah- just next to Dubai and Ajman is cheaper! Gas and food are also cheap! This after the housing bubble burst. Anyone thinking to open a business this is the place where you can get investors for a start up. I love the beaches and desert of Dubai and Abu Dhabi and the fun people here- the Arabs are great and many S. Africans live in UAE.
in case you're interested: now there r many cheap flights to Dubai: Southern China Air, Airberlin, Airarabia.com & flydubai.com go to Belgrade or Istanbul....
Film fests and Art are very big in UAE now that the branches of the Guggenheim and the Lourve will be opening in Abu Dhabi. If you like expats and a tax free life u may like Dubai... almost everyone has help at home, locals and non-local families have a nanny, cook and driver.
Masdar city is amazing: http://masdarcity.ae/en/
Factory areas in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai have many perks such as free expatriation of all profits and tax free status. There is no income tax in the Arabian gulf. The laborers tell me there are problems but at least here they are getting a bank manager's salary for construction type work... they go back home with money to build a house or business that they cd never have afforded otherwise. Specials to UAE are on Etihad, Emirates and Qatar airways. For anyone interested in work in UAE, besides the oil companies many Westerners work at the Universities here & the branches of the Louvre and the Sorbonne. Cornell Medical School is in Qatar. UAE's neighbor Oman is also peaceful and has very friendly people and it's heritage is more intact. For retirees casual work as an English or other type of tutor is easy to get and pays well all over the Arabian Peninsula.
The visa is free for 21 countries. many UK and US Universities r there, there r websites for a lot of Dubai and Abu Dhabi if you like to check them out: NYU, American U.
Article: Dubai, Abu Dhabi among least expensive cities
Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been named as two of the cheapest cities in the world to live in. The revelations came from a new study, the 2012 Cost of Living survey, which is published twice a year by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
It is thought that falling rents, low inflation and a strong US dollar have pushed the two UAE cities to the top of the list.
Dubai fell from 78th place on the 140 strong list of metropolitan cities, to 94 this year. Abu Dhabi fell from 86 to 91, suggesting that the capital is now a more expensive place to live than Dubai.
Zurich in Switzerland being named as the most expensive city to live in.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org if anyone likes to get in touch faster. After seeing the earlier devastating tsunami in Asia and now the one in Japan it reminded me to enjoy each and every moment of life because we never know.
