About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be as kind and helpful to tourists visiting the Philippines as they have been to me when I travel.

ABOUT ME

Call me Granola Girl. That should give you an idea of what kind of host I'll be. Sustainability is big in my life, so from eating to traveling, it's how I try to do things. I'm currently a writer for an advocacy communications group, and do a bunch of volunteer activities on the side. I studied literature at uni, so needless to say I'm big on reading. Now I'm trying to balance that by living outside my head these days.

PHILOSOPHY

"I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again." ~William Penn

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I actually like staying in hostels when I travel. I like being around different travelers and hearing their stories and discoveries. What I do wish I had was someone to sit and talk to about what to do in the place I'm visiting--someone to give me real tips and recommendations and insights guidebooks can't give. That's how I'm hoping to participate in CS (along with the usual couch hosting if they fit my couch).

Interests

I love discovering sustainable, local foods, and whoever I'm hosting will get a lot of that. I'm big on museums and quite the craft geek (I have blogs for both interests), so seeing a culture's traditional crafts and local art is fascinating to me. Coming from an archipelago with awesome beaches, I enjoy snorkeling and seeing wildlife/marine life in their natural habitats. Zoos make me cry, and I'm involved in animal welfare activism.
