Hey there!
I am Mara and I am a 21-year-old student from Germany.
Because of my love for languages and traveling I am currently majoring in German as a Foreign language (the German equivalent to ESL) and English Studies.

In my free time, I love cooking and baking and going to the beach or nearby lake!
I absolutely love food (both cooking and eating) and am willing to try pretty much everything. During my travels I have already tried a few "exotic" foods, the most extreme probably being the "Live octopus" in Korea - It was delicious though!

I adore pets and animals in general, but unfortunately, I don't have any of my own yet because I am still living in a dorm.

To be honest I can pretty shy at first but I try to overplay it by talking a lot and asking a lot of questions so it should never get awkward.

I have never couchsurfed before because the last times I traveled were always either whole 1 year trips or visits to my boyfriend's house, so please don't be put down by my lack of references!

I am really looking forward to getting to know you better once we start talking!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to try couchsurfing because it is the perfect way to combine my love for travel and making new friends from different parts of the world while learning interesting things about a country or culture I probably wouldn't be able to learn if I was staying at an ordinary Airbnb or hostel.

I am sure we will have a lot of fun cooking meals from our countries together and teaching each other our languages! And maybe we can even go to the beach or the lake together!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Indie Rock and Alternative!
One of my favorite bands are Jannabi, Alt-J and Twenty One Pilots.

As for movies... I enjoy watching all kinds of movies but I absolutely adore the love story of About Time! Also, Passengers and The Hunger Games are awesome movies as well.

And my favorite book is still the Harry Potter series (especially the 6th and 7th book), but I really like the fantasy genre in general. Still need to read the Lord of the Rings!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Back in 2015 I went on a Catamaran trip from Ibiza to Formentera and went diving along with fishes and even some jellyfishes.

My recent trips have been less adventurous and more focused on exploring the food scene of the country. Everyone who enjoys delicious and spicy food definitely has to visit South Korea at least once!

I would be really really happy to help you with your English, German, and even Korean if you are interested in this since I am majoring in this field.

Also, I would be more than happy to prepare meals for you, walk your dog, help with the chores or even with projects around the house you have been wanting to do for ages (like painting a wall, or other art or crafting projects).

I can also teach you how to prepare a German meal or show you new baking recipes!
