About Me

Hello.

My name is Marc, I'm 49 and live in the United Kingdom, and I volunteer for a day centre for the homeless in the City of Manchester, from June 2014 to the present day.

I am passionate about archaeology and history, and have volunteered for 19 excavations since January 2012, each varying from 2 weeks - 1 month.

I have been accepted onto the Ness of Brodgar Archaeological Excavation and Fieldschool 2017, for the full 8 week period, and shall start on Monday 3rd July.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing in the hope that I can be offered a Couchsurfing experience that will serve as base from which to attend the excavation.

I met many people last year on the excavation, individuals studying for a Masters Degree, a Doctorate, a lady writing a book about decorated, incised stones found at the Ness, a chap who constructed the 3D imaging of the site, and many students attending the fieldschool.

Fascinating people.

I would also like to learn more about living on an Island, as like many people it looks and sounds very attractive, and I would like to hear the truth, after spending 6 months as a pizza chef on the Channel Island of Guernsey, and 3 weeks last year in Kirkwall.
