optimist, enthusiast, goofball, curious, sensualist, sarcastic, sweet tooth, probably sometimes too bubbly especially when overexcited about something
Unconcerned but not indifferent
(I am not a big fan of "famous quotes" but I really liked this one - it is engraved on Man Ray's gravestone in cimetière Montparnasse in Paris)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like being the "going out-host"/city tour guide for couchsurfers since I am working full-time, but I hosted and surfed myself as well and loved it
watching interesting people or animals, uploading my batteries in the sun, drinking fresh coconut, letting somebody run his/her fingers through my hair, parties at strange places, fireworks, marine biology documentaries, diving amongst tropical fish, snowflakes, good smells, getting to know the gestures and facial expressions of people (almost everything except for computer games, fantasy role-playing...)
- scuba diving
Music, Movies, and Books
amongst a lot of others (these questions are really hard as you can always only write down what just comes to your mind right away and you feel that you're missing a million of things) books by T.C. Boyle, Simone de Beauvoir, Giorgio Bassani, Milan Kundera, Andrej Kurkow, Stefan Zweig, Knut Hamsun, Max Goldt, Ian McEwan, movies: "Tarnation", "My life without me", "New York Stories", "Science of sleep", "The life aquatic with Steve Zissou", "The Cement Garden", "Gouttes d'eau sur pierres brûlantes", "Donnie Darko", "My Own Private Idaho", "La vita e bella", "Arizona Dream", "Elephant", "The Party", "Vertigo", "Suzhou he", favorite teen movie: "Back to the future", music by Gotan Project, Portishead, Modest Mouse, Final Fantasy, Smashing Pumpkins, The Arcarde Fire, Pendulum, Edith Piaf, Slut, The Sounds, David Bowie, Bloc Party, Beastie Boys, Jazz, 60ies, 70ies and 80ies trash
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
falling in love
(I am still sure that this is the most amazing thing that can happen to you in all of your life without wanting to sound guruesque - I fell in love with wonderful people, I also fell in love with the rainforest in Costa Rica, Campo de Fiori in Rome, the chocolate-banana crepes in Paris, the people and music of Cuba, the turquoise water in Yucatan, Chinatown in San Francisco, the thrill of the Alhambra at night, apple tea in Turkey, a black-and-white cat in Tunisia, the smell of pine trees in Thassos, the quad at night in Urbana-Champaign, the frozen Toplitzsee in Salzkammergut, Vienna in the heat of the summer and so much more. I think the most amazing thing is falling in love with life itself.)
Teach, Learn, Share
Never stop being curious! That's way more important than plain "studying".
Go diving! It will change the way you look at the world (and yourself)!
What I Can Share with Hosts
