Hi, I'm Marieke, 25 years old from Calgary, Canada. Visiting new places, meeting new people and experiencing different cultures is so much fun. I am an open minded and flexible person that doesn't like to move too fast, I like to take in the scenery. I'm kind of a nerd for urban places, as an urban planning graduate, I love to visit interesting places with better planning practices than the city I grew up and studied in.

My next big adventure will be moving to Europe: Oldenburg, Germany and Groningen, The Netherlands for a MS in Water and Coastal Management and Environmental and Infrastructure Planning. Learning new languages is also next on the agenda.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I started Couchsurfing while I was in New Zealand as a way to travel affordably. However, I never ended up using this community because I met people while ski instructing in Queenstown and just stayed with locals I met along the way. I still love the idea of a global community though.
