Fully understand and emulate the quote: Live not like the cistern that carries water, but the fountain that overflows with it.
One evening some years ago, I put on my old, red feathered mask and a long black dress and wondered about the down town of my city for several hours. At first, those who saw me were a little unnerved by the presence of a strange masked woman. Their hesitation turned to inpatient curiosity. Soon, I could not walk three steps without being approached by someone wanting to know my story and what I was all about. I made up a different story each time, improvising wildly and pulling from any books, films, or poems I could conjure to mind.
The last man I spoke with was an artist. When I told him my name was "Morgiana" - a name I had taken from 1001 Arabian Nights - he gasped and (to my horror) tears welled in his eyes. He rifled through the drawings in his old, battered briefcase and produced a small ink portrait of a beautiful woman with long flowing hair and a sinuous body. In the bottom right corner was written the name "Morgiana." Unknowingly, I had appeared before this man, reincarnated, as his lost great love.
These kinds of beautiful coincidences and the pure enthusiasm with which the people that night greeted me because I was different summarize my drive to travel. It made me eager to meet and share with perfect strangers, rather than to be content with only conventional methods of meeting.
If you really want something, the entire universe conspires to let you have it.
