ABOUT ME

I grew up on the Gold Coast, Australia but I have also spent a year living in London and Paris. I met my partner (Lauren) almost ten years ago in London and we spent the first few years of our relationship following each other across the world. We have been permanently together in Australia for the past six years (4 years in Brisbane).
My partner and I describe ourselves as haphazard travellers - we never really have much planned, rarely read guide books and normally just turn up in a place to have a look around and go with the flow. We are more interested in immersing our self in the local culture than seeing a landmark or museum.
I am quite opinionated, but love meeting people who can give me insight into a different culture, lifestyle, religion or political beliefs or any other topical issues.
I love a good debate. I would like to think that I am open minded and considerate and I greatly value people who are open minded and considerate.
I can't cook, but I make great salads and cheese platters. I like things to be clean and organised. I would prefer to spend a weekend night having friends over for a BBQ than going to a bar/nightclub (partly because I find it difficult to justify the expense of a night out in Australia).

PHILOSOPHY

While I do not follow any religion, I believe in the Golden Rule or ethic of reciprocity (ie. treat thy neighbour as you wish to be treated yourself, the wiccan rule of threefold, karma etc).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to offer travellers a place to stay in Brisbane in the hope that when we travel, others will kindly offer us a place to stay. To be honest, we are often exhausted from work and we are also saving up for our next travel adventures, so if you are looking for a tour of the city or people to party with, our place is probably not for you (nor would we expect the same from the hosts of anyone we may stay with). But if you are simply looking for a comfortable bed, a nice shower, a safe place to leave your belongings, people to share a home cooked meal and directions to the nearest (free) ferry so you can go off and discover Brisbane yourself, then send us a message.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not had any couch surfing experiences through this website yet. But we have made friends with fellow travellers at hostels, on trains etc and have stayed at their place in their home country or had those friends stay with us.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

I like a lot of music played on Triple J (best Australian radio station). I tend to prefer TV series than movies, but that may be because once I get involved in a story, I don't want it to end.

Meeting children at an orphanage in Cambodia a few years after I organised a fundraising event on the Gold Coast for that orphanage.

I am a lawyer by trade, so I can share knowledge about the legal system in Australia. I can also direct people as to where to find any relevant immigration information they may need (but please note that I can not give legal immigration advice because in Australia a lawyer may only give immigration advice if they are a Registered Migration Agent).
