More is More.
I have glasses. And a tattoo. And a teddybear called Sherry Bear. I try to see the positive side of everything, which usually works. I spend my time pursuing my interests (see below), with friends or alone.
There may be trouble ahead
But while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
- Irving Berlin -
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I haven't surfed a lot, but am trying to work on that, with your help of course. So far what I do is just try to meet locals: places are interesting, but I always like people better. So far I had a great time with hiking with locals in Hong Kong, Sydney, Hobart and Launceston!
Language. It is such an omnipresent thing: we use it all the time, and it shapes our world. We can make people do things by choosing certain words, we can heal and destroy. Amazing.
I'm also passionate about technology, although I'm not really into gadgets or anything. But I LOVE talking about things like the 3D-printer, or I-glasses. Such an amazing time we live in...
I'm also pretty passionate about food. Mind you, I'm not a restaurant quality chef, but I just really enjoy cooking. My favorite day would be cooking all day while playing some tunes and have friends drop in and out to have a drink and a nibble with.
Other things that keep me busy are friends, reading books (just...books, anything really), making music and watching B-movies.
Music, Movies, and Books
I really read anything on my path, and the same goes for movies, but here's some favorites.
books: Hemingway, Robert Jordan, Neil Gaiman, HP Lovecraft, good ol' Shakespeare, Bukowski, Paul Auster (only when travelling), most fantasy
music: Leonard Cohen, Umek, Poulenc, Brahms, Verdi, Black Keys, Killers, Noel Coward, Nineties.
movies: Barfi, Talladega Nights, Battle Royale, Casablanca, La Strada, Matrix
tv: Archer, Community, NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, Mock the Week, QI
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Making music with my orchestra, Ricciotti Ensemble, playing for mentally handicapped people, or prisoners, always leaves me dumbfounded.
I spend some nights with friends in Wadi Rum, a desert in Jordan: the stars there were amazing.
Getting my PADI divers license was magical: not only experiencing a whole new world, but also being in a truly silent place was an unbelievably impressive experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach anybody about the history of classical music, and I know a thing or two about language (but never enough)
