I'm a normal non-smoking Irish colleen who loves to dance and travel. I have a raucous laugh, which tends to make other people laugh and happy too. :-)
I love meeting new people and chatting. My work and hobbies allow for both.
Mondegreen is my new favourite word in English. In Irish, they are ragaire and airneánach.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've heard so many good things about people enjoying hosting and being hosted that I thought it's time to try this. I'm curious about people and I love to travel. A good friend regularly hosts people and loves sharing all the good things about Dublin - music, theatre, free events, festivals, food and nightlife. As well as travelling for work, I travel a lot through Europe attending dance festivals, and recently stayed with a CS in Madrid. Through dancing I'm often hosted and offer hosting to visiting dancers too.
Dancing! I love to dance, especially swing dancing - blues, lindy hop and east coast. I've also learned basics in salsa, tango and some ballroom.
Yoga and meditation - I do an annual retreat as well as a regular practice.
Politics, humanitarian/ overseas development aid (I worked in an NGO for a few years).
- swing dancing
Music, Movies, and Books
Blues, swing, jazz, easy listening - I adore Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse. I recently Shazamed Felino by Electrocutango, The End of the World by The Carpenters, The Dunnes Stores Girl by John Spillane.
Recently saw Inside Out and Trainwreck. As well as Shawshank Redemption, The Matrix, Die Hard with Alan Rickman, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, I love Some Like It Hot, Léon, Spirited Away &The Apartment
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My work brings me to some amazing parts of the world - the Middle East and South East Asia.
Cycling around at night in the back streets of Hoi An in Viet Nam was particularly special. I felt very safe and just loved watching people go about their daily life - singing karaoke, mending clothes, repairing a bicycle. Best bit? A local family inviting me to dinner. We had no shared vocal language yet shared the love of good food and company. Great memory.
