About Me

I am originally from Minnesota. I currently reside in Boise, ID where I work at a regional hospital where I have been for the past 6 years. When I am not working, I prefer to be outside in nature on my bicycle or hiking, I enjoy video games, movies, music - your usual entertainment. I can cook, but I use that word lightly. I have only ever cooked for myself so nobody has ever told me I couldn't cook.

I enjoy traveling (who doesn't). I have been to (as in stayed at least 2 nights) 8 states and 4 countries. It's not a big list by any means. I still would like to retire early, so I spend conservatively and invest aggressively.

I have my bachelors in speech therapy, but am not working as a speech therapist. I have volunteered at schools though helping children who stutter overcome the psychological component. I know all about that and how it can wreak havoc on your self confidence if you let it. I would know. I've struggled with stuttering all my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There is something to be said about having a hotel, especially if it provides good amenities. It's also great to have your own space and some place to come back to at the end of a long day and just relax. The same is true for AirBNB. On the other hand, couch surfing allows me to meet other individuals, not necessarily to show you around though that is a benefit, but having the opportunity to meet and interact with cool people. I've never owned a home myself, though it's in the cards, but I hope to someday and host other couch surfers. I love meeting new people and hearing their story and why they live where they do.

Interests

Cycling is my biggest hobby. I wouldn't even call it a hobby, necessarily. It's how I commute and my main form of recreation. Would you believe I am 36 years old and still never got my driver's license. I have no need.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving with an 82 year old retired pilot who promised he would never jump out of a plane. I only wish we would have done it somewhere a little more exciting than over the flat lands of Minnesota.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to get out and explore things to do and see in the city as much as the next person, but even more than that, if you have a skill (bonus points for an unusual skill) you can teach me, or if you have favorite recipe, we can both share our own. It beats going to a restaurant any day! I also love looking at pictures of your adventures and I can share mine as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a ton of stories from things I have heard and seen in the hospital over the past decade.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
