Overview
About Me
Hi there! My name is Matteo, an Italian currently living in Germany. The idea of connecting with people from different cultures and sharing meaningful experiences is something that truly excites me.
As someone who loves to explore the world, I’ve always found that the most memorable moments aren’t just about visiting new places, but about the people I meet along the way. I’m fascinated by the rich diversity our world offers, and I believe that every interaction is an opportunity to learn something new.
By profession, I’m a traveling technician, which means I’m often on the road solving problems and facing challenges head-on. This job has not only made me adaptable and resourceful but has also deepened my appreciation for the unique perspectives and stories everyone has to share.
I’m also a creative spirit, with a passion for capturing the essence of my travels through writing and photography. My dream is to eventually carve out a path as a travel organizer, where I can inspire others to embark on their own adventures.
When I visit, I’m eager to share more about my culture, my experiences, and my stories, and of course, to learn about yours. Whether it’s through a simple conversation over a cup of coffee or exploring the local area together, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to connect on a deeper level.
I’m excited about the possibility of meeting you and sharing this beautiful journey of cultural exchange.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’d like to share an experience that has deeply shaped me: my involvement with the Taizé community in France, where the guiding principle is trust in others. For over 10 years, I’ve been participating in their international meetings across Europe. Each time, I’ve been welcomed into the homes of strangers, with our first meeting often happening right at their doorstep. This beautiful experience is part of what Taizé calls the "Pilgrimage of Trust on Earth." I still remember the mixture of nerves and excitement I felt the first time I rang that doorbell. Since then, I’ve never stopped participating.
Recently, I moved to Germany, where I hope to host travelers from far away, learn their stories, and continue the spirit of trust and connection. But my journey doesn’t end here! I’m eager to explore beyond Europe, discover new cultures, and make friends wherever I go.

Music, Movies, and Books
The music I listen to generally changes along with my mood and state of mind, but if I can list 3 of the songs that I would always carry with me they are:
A moment apart - ODEDZA
Puropose - Cheriimoya
Open Door - Mike Shinoda
As for films, I am influenced by the opinions of others, but 3 films that I would gladly watch again are:
Intouchables - Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano (2011)
Lost in translation - Sofia Coppola (2003)
The Last of the Mohicans - Michael Mann (1992)
Even when it comes to books, I go a lot based on my mood and the place I'm in, mainly when I'm on holiday, I sometimes also read manga (and of course I also watch anime)
The 5 am club - Robin Sharma
The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
Shōgun – James Clavell
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been playing basketball for a long time, more than 20 years in total now, and when I was a teenager playing professionally, I managed to break my last spinal disc during contact with a defender on a dunk. I never had surgery, and the doctors said I would never be able to play sports again, but here I am! Always doing something new and still playing basketball :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Regarding teaching, I can teach Italian (including gestures :D), Spanish and our Brescia dialect from our Italian province.
For culinary culture, I can easily teach the most typical (and good) dishes of Italy.
We can even shoot some basketball, I'm still a 3-point ace :)
I'm learning the Japanese language! I wish someone could teach me like a native speaker!
For the rest my motto is that you never stop learning. There is always something new to learn!
Speaking of sharing, I'm ready to share my whole life and stories with you! Of course I want to know your story too. Each of us has incredible things to tell, I'm sure! :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I bring the essence of Italian cuisine with me, ready to cook up delicious dishes for my hosts and offer recommendations for exceptional Italian restaurants. If you're up for it, we can even join forces in the kitchen and cook together, sharing culinary experiences and creating memorable meals!
